A Strange Book

I was desperate... done with life and everything that kept fucking me over. I just needed something to change it, no matter the cost.

I was in the library, looking at old books to see if I could find anything interesting. At least books didn't torment me...

Looking around at the dusty books, I noticed a dark area I had never been to before. Was it closed off or did I just never notice it?

I walked into this new area, it was much darker than the rest of the library, almost unsettling. The cobwebs and dust everywhere didn't help either. The shelves in this area were unusually empty. Seems like no one actually used this part in a long time.

Out of the corner of my eye though, I saw a lone book, illuminated by one of the few lights in the room. I walked over to it to get a closer look.

The book was incredibly old and tattered. It had strange black markings on it, and on the front some symbols of which I had no clue what they meant. The binding itself seemed like it was made from skin. A book like this, it's best to know what it is before opening it. Suddenly, like it knew what I wanted, the symbols shifted into English.

"T̴̛̻̮͠ḧ̸̡̥͖́ȅ̵̤̣̄͑͜ ̶̠͖͊̃ͅV̶̦̠͌͆o̸͈̒i̵̲͎̎̐d̴̢̩̒̀̚͜ ̸͈͍͝D̴̺͑͛͝ẹ̵̘̹͐m̸̟̑͂̇o̸̥͊̔n̶̹͈̎͐" it read in corrupted letters.

A demon? Could this be the answer to my problems? I decided to find out, since I was desperate for anything. I set the book in my bag and walked into the main area of the library. Considering what this book could be, I decided not to check it out.

I walked out of the library, carefully watching the librarian to see if they noticed I was about to steal a book. They didn't seem to care, focused on their work. I hurried home.

I set the strange book down on my desk in my room. Was I really about to look into this and possibly summon a demon? Yes, hell yes. I'm done with my horrible life. Things need to change.

Opening the book, the lettering shifted from an unknown language into English, looking distorted but legible. It started to describe how powerful this demon was, and what the void was. According to the book, this demon was one of the most powerful, outclassing Lucifer himself. And the void, a terrifying dark realm of eldritch horrors and old gods of which few surpassed him in power. Was he really a demon or something much worse?

The more I read, the more insane it was. After I got through what was apparently the introduction to the void demon, it showed a pitch black, twisting symbol covering a whole page, and on the one beside it instructions for how to summon him.

Even after what I have read, I still have the urge to summon this demon. And so the ritual began.

Taking a nearby marker, I drew the same twisting symbol on a clear area of my floor, making it as close as I could to match the one in the book. I grabbed a knife and cut my palm, dripping blood into the middle of the symbol.

"Please work..." I whispered to myself before shouting into the air.

"VOID DEMON! I SUMMON YOU!"
