Phoenix has always loved fictional books. They were her escape when things were tough. She loved the magic and the power they held within. You could do anything you wanted. Be anything you wanted. Phoenix had always thought about what it would be like to have magic, special powers or abilities. She thought about which powers she would have with such childlike wonder.
Now, Phoenix wasn’t an ordinary 20 years old girl. Absolutely not! On the contrary, she was a rather shy, very creative and wise girl. She was very kind and polite - never forgot to say please or thank you. She always gave to charity even if she barely had any money to give. She’s quite selfless - which brought her a lot of pain sometimes. She had a passion for music. Her dream was to be in the position to help people through her music. She wanted to make a difference in the world. She wanted to raise awareness of issues and help make a change in the world. She had lots of ideas which she had written down in her notebooks- which were one of her most prized possessions.
But no matter how hard she worked or how groundbreaking her ideas were. Her dreams never came true. Why? Because she lacked two very important things. Money. And connections. She sat on one of the many window ledges of the castle - that’s not far from her village - writing in one of her notebooks. She’d already been at the castle for quite some time. She had already read one of her favourite books and contemplated life on a different window ledge which was lower down than the one she was currently sitting on. She was sat on the tallest window ledge which overlooked the ocean and the sheer drop of the cliff edge on the side of the castle. She was writing down everything that came to mind. The good. The bad. And the ugly. Once she had finished writing everything down, she set her pen and notebook down next to her. Staring at the ocean bellow she started to think;
‘I wonder what it would be like to be able to breathe underwater. So much for you to explore. I could swim with the dolphins that migrate through here every year. I’d love to be able to control water like that boy from one of her favourite books. To be energised and healed after drinking and touching it would be amazing!’
Those are just some of the things she thought about as she daydreamed about all possibilities of having different powers would bring.
Suddenly, Phoenix jumped to her feet and grabbed her pen, notebook, and her book. She held them tightly in her hands with her arms crossed against her chest. She looked at the cliff edge and into the water below. After hesitating for a split second, she took a deep breath and jumped…
