An overgrown tree

Start from the beginning

"Why do you look so sad, little fox?" I heard someone behind me.
I turned around and quickly straightened up.
I did a small bow.
"Cloud Retainer." I said, greeting one.

"One could sense that you were having a ball of different emotions dug deep in your soul at this moment." Could Retainer said, standing infront of me elegantly.

"I..." i didn't know how to answer and looked down in shame.

"Dissapointment. One of the feelings one senses that you have." One looked at me in the eyes.
"But not in anyone else. It is you you're dissapointed in." One said in a questionable tone.

I had a lump in my throat and couldn't say anything. I averted my eyes back to the ground.

"Anger." Cloud Retainer mentioned.
"A strong emotion that can lead us all to do bad things against the ones we are angry at." One said.
"And you're angry at yourself." One said.

I swallowed.

"But. Is it truly you who should have these emotions. Is you you who should feel this way?" One asked.

"I deserve to feel this way. I did something horrible and these feelings are something to remind me of that." I said.

Cloud Retainer didn't say anything but looked down at the ship.
"One thinks that you aren't the only one who is feeling guilty." Cloud Retainer said.

I knew she talked about Kazuha.

"I'm the one who deserves to feel guilty. He didn't do anything wrong. He's just too kind." I said.

Kazuha shouldn't feel guilty because of me.
It was my action.

"One thinks that you shouldn't let feelings take physical action." Cloud Retainer said.

"I won't." I stated.

One looked at me in disbelief. One's gaze went down to my tail.

In confusion i looked down as well and saw the biting marks had started to leak blood.
I quickly hid my tail behind my legs.

Cloud Retainer didn't say anything more and flew into the air and left me alone on the cliff.
I looked as Cloud Retainer flew further and further away.

"My my..." i heard.
I felt someone touch my tail. I quickly looked behind me and saw Miko crouching down and caressing my tail.

"Such a beautiful tail, and you're mistreating it." She said.
"Miko..." i muttered, about to shed tears and beg her to comfort me.

"Come now, sit down with me." She said and patted the spot infront of her.
I sat down.

She started putting a bandage around my tail.

"These are fang marks, why are you mistreating your own fluffy tail?" She asked.

"I deserve to have it ripped off." I said while sniffling. "My my. A life without a tail is certainly not funny, trust me." Miko said.

"I did something horrible Miko..." i said and wiped the tears in the corner of my eyes.

"You've been strong. You're allowed to be emotional in front of me." She said simply, most likely because she heard my sniffles.

The tears started trilling down my face.

I saw her hand in the corner of my eye, it went infront of me and placed itself on my forehead.
She then slowly pushed my head towards her, causing me to lean down.

I was now laying with my head on her lap.

"Don't tell me what you did. But please tell me why you did it and why you feel guilty for it." She said.

"I don't have a reason i did it. I wasn't sober, and i know that's not an excuse but..." i didn't say anything to finish my sentence

"Mhm... people can do crazy things when they are not in their own mind at the time." Miko said.

"I feel guilty because what i did, will end up hurting someone else when i tell them." I said.
I didn't want to say too much.

"What do i do?..." i asked her.

When she held me in her arms i felt weak, but it was okay.
I didn't have to be strong, or help anyone. No one had to know how i let my feelings loose right in this moment. It was just me and Miko.

"Tell the person you hurt about it." Miko said as she placed with my hair.

"They might hate me and never trust me again." I said, trying to get another answer from her.

"Then you're have to rain their trust again then. If this person truly care about you and you truly care about them, you will find a way to overcome this situation. Even if it's hard." Miko said.

After a few seconds of silence she spoke. "We're talking about you and Xiao, aren't we?" Miko looked at me.
I nodded.

"I can see you care for him." Miko said.
She looked at me and smirked.
"And i can see he cares for you too." She said and looked at my neck.

I felt myself overblush again.

I quickly pulled the hanfu closer together and closed it again, so it covered the red marks.

Somewhere in the future:

Y/n pov:

Aether slowly shed tears that rolled down his cheek.
Zhongli looked at him sadly and also had tears in his eyes after telling Aether the story of the only sakura tree in Liyue.

Paimon was sobbing and tried to dry her eyes with her small fingers.

I stood next to them. I felt small tears down my eyes as well but tried to make sure they didn't fall.
"Don't cry Aether. It's okay." I told him.

Aether looked towards the tree and Xiao resting underneath it.

Xiao looked at peace, the tree gave him comfort.

I walked up to him and sat next to him, i leaned my head on his shoulder. "It's okay Xiao..." i whispered.

Back to the present:

3rd pov:

The two foxes were peacefully laying on top of the mountain.
Both of the sisters were in their fox form.

The older one's fox form was light pink. The ears of the fox were long and sharp.
The legs were a lot longer than the younger sister's. And the older sister had a nice set of tails swaying in the wind.

The younger one was cuddled next to the other, fast asleep with the small bandaged tail next to her.

This was the perfect moment for the two of them.

And hopefully, the future would bring more great days like these, with them together.
