Raven's Pov
I moved to New Jersey from Chicago because my mom got a new job. New job means new school, new house, and new friends. I didn't want to move but it happens.
I rolled out of bed and took a shower. I put on black skinny jeans and a t-shirt with vans. I straightened my curly hair and did my makeup.
I got downstairs and my mom smiled "Hey sweetie grab some breakfast then I can drive you to school."
I grabbed a bowl from the cabinet "Okay cool but I'd rather go to your boring job then school."
She chuckled "I'm sure teaching 5 year olds isn't your thing."
I laughed then continued pouring my cereal. She ate her breakfast then drove me to school.
At school
I was completely lost. I walked around trying to find the office. After like 10 minutes I gave up and asked this guy.
"Hey can you tell me where the office is please?"
He turned around and he was beautiful he had brown eyes and brown hair he was taller than me and had the most amazing biceps.
He looked up "Yeah it's down the hall to the right."
I smiled "Thanks."
I got in the office and got my schedule from the principal. I had physical education first which sucked. I was placed in class 10-03. I gathered my things and headed to the basement.
"Your late." The gym teacher looked at me while stretching.
"Sorry I'm new here I had to get my schedule." I scratched my head.
She smiled "I'm sorry you must be Raven Valcho."
I put my bag aside "That's me."
"You can stretch then come join us in basketball."
I did what I was told. I stretched my body then went up to her. "All done Ms.."
"Ms. S. You can join Jake's team since he's a member short."
She called him over "Go easy on Raven k Jake?"
I scoffed "Nah I played ball with my brother I'll be fine."
We started playing and Jake handed the ball to me and I shot it from where I was making the basket. We played until the class was over. Our team won and it made me happy.
"Raven nice game."
I looked up "You too Jake."
I grabbed my bag and left the gym looking at my schedule. Science was next. I felt someone tap my shoulder and I turned my head seeing Jake.
He grabbed my schedule "We're in the same class I'll walk with you to science."
He handed me my schedule back and we walked to science.
Lunch
I met this girl Miranda in my science class and we've gotten close.
I stared at Jake from my table.
"Raven don't stare he's bad news. He's a drug dealer he's in a gang bad idea."
I pointed "Jake? But he seems so nice."
She scoffed "He killed someone or at least that's what I heard. Unless you want to end up dead don't mess with him."
I looked back at him and he laughing and smiling sweetly. His friend tapped his shoulder and he looked at me but I quickly put my head down. I finished my lunch and got up to throw it away.
"Hey I saw you watching me." Jake looked at me.
I blushed "Uhm I-"
He chuckled "It's okay it was cute the way you did it."
Miranda grabbed my arm "Us talk now."
She dragged me in the hallway "What the hell was that?"
I shrugged my shoulder "He was talking to me chill."
She laughed "If we're gonna keep you away from him we have a lot of work to do."
We walked to class together. Jake walked in 10 minutes late. "Jake your late."
He smirked "I really don't care. I'm forced to be here."
He rolled his eyes "Sit down smart ass."
Jake winked at me and took his seat. Our teacher gave out a math worksheet and I was completely confused. Miranda leaned over you divide the x by the y and subtract. It took me a few seconds but I was able to do it. A paper landed right in the middle of my desk.
Hey so I know that Miranda told you things about me. She was my ex we dated for like 2 months. Yeah I might be a drug dealer and in a gang but I'm a really great guy ask her.
I picked up my pen: She doesn't want me to get hurt but I don't believe your a bad person. Your nice actually.
I quickly passed it back and he read it and smiled then write something down and passed it back.
Call me maybe so we can hang out?
I looked at him and shook my head then slipped the note in my binder before Miranda could see. Soon the end of the day came and I went home. I decided to text Jake.
Raven: Hey it's Raven.
Jake: Hey so uhm wassup?
Raven: Watching tv. Wbu?
Jake: Well if I told you what I was actually gonna do you'd think of me different.
Raven: If you told me you were going to sell drugs?
Jake: Yeah, listen I'm about to head out but I promise you when I get back I'll text you
Raven: Okay. Be careful.
Jake: awe you care haha
Raven: Well duh.
I started smiling and my mom walked in. "Why are you smiling?"
I put my phone down and she shook her head "Come on let me see."
I shook my head "No mom stop!"
She put her hand on her waist "What did I tell you about boys?"
I rolled my eyes "It wasn't a boy."
She walked out the bedroom and I signed. I took a bath and changed into a over sized sweater and sweats. It was 11pm when Jake texted back.
Jake: Hey sorry I'm so late I hope your still up.
Raven: Yeah I'm still up I just got out the bath how was it?
Jake: It was great I made 6 grand.
Raven: Holy shit congrats dude.
Jake: Are we gonna hang out tomorrow I'll take you anywhere you want. It's Friday and I've got no deals.
Raven: Six Flags?
Jake: Yeah sure we'll go straight from school.
Raven: See you tomorrow, goodnight Jake.
Jake: Goodnight Raven sleep tight
