Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Marie. Marie has been patiently waiting for her aunt Alise to arrive as he always delivered her Christmas presents.

The doorbell rings. Clara, Marie's mother, opens the door and sees Alise.

"Clara! How are you doing big sis?"

"I'm doing fine. Come on inside before you catch a cold." Alise walks inside. Marie walks up to Alise.

"Aunt Alise!"

Alise picks up Marie and swings her around. "Hey! There's my little walnut!" She puts Marie down. "Hey, I got you a little present." Alise hands over the present to Marie. Marie looked so happy and immediately ran up the stairs with it.

Clara looks back at Alise. "What did you get her?"

"Just a toy soldier."

Marie picks up her toy and shows it to her mom and aunt. "What doll is this?"

Clara looks. "That's not a doll, sweetie. Your aunt has brought you the nutcracker."

"He looks like a prince to me." Marie exclaims.

"He's not just any prince!" Takes a bag of walnuts out of her bag and shows them. "He's a prince that can crack walnuts!"

"I wanna see, I wanna see!" Marie jumps excitedly. Alise gives the nutcracker toy to Marie and proceeds to open the bag of walnuts.

"Wait!" Alice stops reaching for the walnut upon hearing Marie's command. "I want mommy to give the walnut to the prince. She's the queen of our Queendom."

Alise looks at Clara curiously. "Is she now?"

"I was always the Queen in her little games." Clara smiles.

"Well, now you're the Queen of nuts!" Alise Chuckles!

"Hey!" Clara replies unamused.

"Mommy! The prince can't wait to crack the nut any longer."

Clara reaches her hand out to Alise. "Pass me the walnut." Alise hands walnut to Clara. "The Queen has a duty to fulfill." Clara puts the walnut between the teeth of the nutcracker. Marie tries to crack the Walnut but finds it hard.

"I can't make it crack!" Marie hands the nutcracker to Clara. "Mommy, can you crack the Walnut, please?" Clara takes the nutcracker and cracks the Walnut open! "Yay! We did it!" Clara puts the nutcracker down. "Can you crack the walnut with your teeth, mommy?"

"Oh no, a nut like that is too hard for me to bite."

"But your mom loves to swallow peanuts!" Alise jokes.

Marie looks at Clara. "You do?!"

"NO!" Clara retorts to Alise before realizing her daughter was looking at her. She looks at her daughter reassuringly. "I mean yes, but because nuts are chalk full of protein. Meeting our nutritional needs is a good thing, and your mommy wants good things for her little princess." She says as she rubs Marie's head. "Why don't you go to the kitchen and wait for dinner." As Marie walks off, Clara gives an annoyed look to her sister. "You're still immature as ever!"

"I'm young at heart, Clare! Besides, it's always fun messing with you!" She puts her bag down. "Now, what's for dinner?"

At night time, Marie places her soldiers on top of a cabinet and goes to bed. There was noise coming from the kitchen. Clara couldn't sleep. "Marie?" She believes her daughter to be awake.

Clara walks to her bedroom and sees that her daughter is asleep. However, she looks down at the floor and sees there are multiple rats running around her room. All of a sudden, the rats stop and look at Clara. Frightened for her life, Clara marches downstairs and into the kitchen where she pants.
