Aftermath

Apologies

"Hey Whisper?" A Hunter said as he sat in the Jetsam of Saturn area of the Tangled shore, in a place that had a nice view of the crashed ship.

"Yes Jack? Said a black and blue ghost with a white emblem who appeared over the hunter, now known as Jack's right shoulder

"I feel like I owe you an apology, for dragging you along on that revenge trip I had." Jack started

"I know you didn't like what I did, especially how it ended with Uldren, but after the Red War I thought that now the Traveler's light is back things would be... better, we would be safe in this little status quo I'd made up in my head but... apparently the universe had a different plan and Cayde wasn't apart of it."

Jack looked down solemnly "And I feel at that point I snapped. I saw so many of my brothers and sisters die in the war but this was different... This was Cayde, my mentor, the man who taught me everything there was to being a hunter... and I failed him... I failed him!"

"He put all his faith in me and I let him down... that's why I needed to kill Uldren because I owed Cayde that much."

Jack then looks toward his ghost who has just been listening intently "But that doesn't excuse what I put you through, watching me go down this shit list I had with no remorse, ignoring you when you said I was going too far..."

Jack looks back down "I'm sorry, for all of it."

Whisper just looked at him for a while until he spoke "Jack, I forgive you for not listening to me, I wanted revenge on Uldren too but I didn't want you to compromise your morals for it." The Ghost stated.

"I was just scared that you were going to lose your way, and eventually fall to the darkness and become the next Dredgen Yor! You were close to crossing a very dangerous line."

"But thankfully you didn't cross it, you stuck with the light, and while I didn't necessarily agree with most of your decisions, we did what we set out to do. We avenged Cayde."

"But you have got to stop beating yourself up about not reaching Cayde in time. Yes you're the 'Young Wolf' and the 'Hero of the Red War' but underneath all of those titles, all of those accomplishments, you're still human, you're still that young hunter I revived in the Cosmodrome."

"No one would have known that there was that many Scorn down there. You have to remember that you're human and that no human, exo, or awoken is perfect."

"So eyes up guardian! We still have a universe to protect."

Jack looks toward his oldest and closest friend "Thank you... little light."

"Hey! I told you not to call me that!" Whisper said chuckling

Jack rolled his eyes dramatically as he laughed "Oh come on dude, everyone calls you that! You even let that weird exo lady get away with it a couple years back!"

"I was more concerned about how she just appeared out of nowhere to be honest." Whisper said as he finished chuckling

"Eh true I'll give you that... What do you think happened to her?"

"I have no clue. She's probably still out there... somewhere. You still got that rifle she gave you?"

"Nope, it got destroyed in the old tower. I knew I should've kept it on the ship... It was a damn good rifle as well."

"Well you live and you learn I guess... At least you still have the Ace of Spades."

"That I do" Jack says as he unholsters the Ace of Spades and holds it in both of his hands

"That I do."

Hello! This is my first story ever so please tell me how I did! This takes place after you nab that quest Petra gives you on the tangled shore after the final mission of forsaken.

I have a couple ideas relating to Jack the hunter and Whisper the ghost... and a Warlock (more on that later) which is basically a retelling of the D1 and D2 stories and expansions (Rebirth to Beyond Light... well now Witch Queen lol) but with a guardian with a different personality.
