chapter two

After school was over I dropped Bonnie and Elena off at their houses like I always do and thought I'd treat myself to a drink from Starbucks. I got my usual chai tea latte and drove home.

Once I got there I noticed an unfamiliar car in the drive way. I grabbed my drink, bag, and keys and walked up the drive way. I unlocked the door and walked in, locking it behind me.

I heard talking in the living room and made my way over there. Seeing my brother Ryan watching tv with the new guy, Justin.

Ryan seemed to hear me because he turned around and greeted me. Well, kind of.

"You went to Starbucks and you didin't get me anything?" Ryan asked pretending to be hurt.

"Nope, sorry Ry."

"Really shows how much you think of me, thanks sis." Ryan stood up and walked towards me, soon after taking a sip of my drink.

"You might not like it-" I stopped myself seeming it was too late.

"What is this? It's actually kinda good."

"Chai tea latte" I replied with a smile while taking it and sipping it myself.

Soon later, Justin got up from the couch and stood next to Ryan which was in front of me. I decided to pretend like I don't know his name or anything about him.

"And who's this?" I asked Ryan while motioning and looking at Justin.

"Oh this is-" Ryan started but was inturruped by Justin.

"Justin, I'm Justin." He said with a warm smile while putting his hand out to shake mine.

I took my hand in his and shook it.

"And you are?" He asked still not releasing my hand.

"I'm Katherine. Ryan's sister." I gave him the same warm smile while releasing our hands.

"Justin's new, he just started today." Ryan explained while walking back to the couch.

"Well, welcome." I smiled up at him, since he was literally like two feet taller than me.

"You gonna hang with us, sis?"

"Oh, no. Maybe later, I've got lots of homework."

"Bummer" Justin mummbled under his breath so no one would hear, but I still did.

I walked upstairs to my bedroom and plugged my phone in to my speaker, playing music pretty loud while starting on my homework.
