Nyx hummed a quiet tone, while sitting on his rock beside the very tall willow. He wasn't ashamed to show himself in the open for there were tall rocky walls surrounding the clearing. His medium sized pond is cozy for him, and the willow tree granted shade in part of it. He heard rustling nearby, but paid no mind as he laid on is back atop his valued rock. He started to drift off as he hummed to himself, well, that was until a towel was thrown at his face and startled him. Nyx nearly feel off his rock while scrambling to get the object of his attack off him. A very familiar, melodious laughter rung out from beside the pond.
"Now, honestly, was that really necessary?" Nyx frowned as he pulled the towel away, and faced the man behind the attack.
"Of course it was! You were gonna fall asleep! Which meant that you could've fallen into the water, and drowned!" Lavender yelled, but with no negative emotion in sight. He was wearing a smirk on his face, he knew what he said was bullshit. Typical of fae. Tricksters and jokers, yet they can't ever seem to lie.
"Oh please, we both know that's utter horsecrap!" Nyx huffed as he flicked his tail to emphasize his point. "Anyways, what's the towel for?"
Lavender just kept smiling away. "Dry off your hair for me, then close your eyes!" This cause Nyx to chuckle and start drying his hair free of any water, already knowing what was about to take place.
"Fine, but you know the rules. I get to style yours next." "Not with those wetass hands, you aren't!" A fit of laughter ensued between the two creatures.
Lavender took the towel once Nyx was finished, and brought out his brush. This activity was calming for the both of them. He also liked getting tips from Nyx about how to care for his own hair, they're always well appreciated and helpful whenever he doesn't know how to manage it.
Starting from the front, Lavender calmly started to brush through Nyx's hair. Nyx cared for his hair quite greatly, so as such, it was smooth and easy to brush through. Lavender never would've expected a sea creature, such as Nyx, to have such godly hair, but he was proven very wrong. Carefully, Lavender wove Nyx's hair into a pattern that was familiar to him. A crown made out of two braids that ended with a very fancy bun, this was his go to style. It never failed to make Nyx look like etheral. Not as much as the fae he has been in contact with, but close enough. Lavender hummed his own little tone as worked carefully, and precisely. He supposed it was pretty similar to making flower crowns, a talent which flowed through him effortlessly. Maybe that's why Nyx likes when Lavender does his hair. Maybe he likes the intricate designs he can pull off. Lavender didn't even realize he was done til Nyx cleared his throat.
"Daydreaming over there, flower boy? Thinking of me?" Nyx playfully teasing, in good fun of course. Lavender scoffed with a roll of the eyes and a grin on his face. "As if, you water breather! I'll have you know, that I was just so incredibly focused on getting that pattern just right!" Nyx shakes his head. "Whatever you say, but it's my turn now."
Turning around, Lavender let Nyx do as he pleased. He trusted Nyx with his hair, especially considering how well he cared for his own. Lavender sucked in a breath at the first tug, it wasn't intentional. His hair just kept getting knotted so fast, a curse in his opinion. However, Nyx paid no mind. Instead, it seemed to encourage him to keep going. Maybe he saw Lavender's hair as a challenge, after all Nyx is a bit competitive even if he won't admit it. Nyx hummed very lightly, just enough to get Lavender to relax at the tugging if his hair.
"At least it's not as bad as when we first did this!" Nyx laughed. Lavender groaned. "Oh God, don't remind me! That was awful, I hated it!" Nyx just laughed a little more, while Lavender smiled. The first time they ever brushed eachother's hair, the brush kept getting stuck in Lavender's hair. It was a huge mess. Thankfully, no hair cuts had to be made, but it got to the point were they almost were. Nowadays, Lavender does his best to care for it as good as it Nyx's. It doesn't always work, but he's trying his best. He can feel Nyx put his hair into a bun, so he assumes that it wasn't too much trouble today.
"Is that tight enough?" Lavender shakes his head a bit to test it out. "Oh yeah, this is perfect!" Nyx nods and grins. "I'm really glad. Now, hop up here!"
Lavender looked so confused. "Why?" Nyx didn't say anything, just patted the spot next to him on his rock. Raising an eyebrow in confusion, Lavender slowly made his way beside Nyx. Once he got settled, he turned to Nyx.
"So why did you want me up here?" Nyx was looking at the sky, and pointed. "To show you that." Lavender follows his hand, before gasping. The sky was filled with various colors of a sun set. While the walls stopped the pair from seeing the sun on the water horizon, this was good enough for them.
"Holy shit, that's beautiful!" Lavender was in awe. "I know! Why did you think I'd call you up here?" Nyx chuckled lightly. Lavender didn't respond. Too enamored by the swirls of color in the sky.
And that's how they stayed. Two friends, side by side, watching a sunset granted to them by the world that was against them. What more could the pair for when they already have eachother in a beautiful moment like this?
