Clay awoke, laying in a soft bed. He was in a small room. The lighting was soft and there was a smell of strawberries in the air. The sound of humming could be heard from the corner of the room.
"What. who- who are you?" Clay spoke slowly. In the corner of the room stood a beautiful lady with dirty blond hair and soft green eyes.
"My name is Loralei. I found you laying in the fields, badly hurt and thought to help you." The tall woman said.
"Help me?" Clay said slowly. "I don't need help, I just want to go home."
"You can't go home, we are all stuck here." Luralei said.
Clay slowly got up.
"What there's others?" he said looking out the window. Where he saw other houses.
"Well you see Clay, there's this thing. This... thing."
"It's a what?" Clay said.
"I guess you could call it a monster." She said.
"But there's more to it. If you go outside the wall you will most likely die. The further out the more dangerous it is. So now, we all have to live here, we can't go anywhere else. We all awoke here without any memories."
Clay just stared at her, tears slowly emerging from his eyes as he realized he had no recollection of anything from his past. He stood up slowly.
"I don't want to die." He said looking her straight in the eyes.
Loralei smiled.
"It's okay Clay. There's more to this place than meets the eye. But you'll have to trust me."
"What if I don't trust you?" Clay said.
"It won't matter." Luralei said. "This is your home now. You have to realize that you don't have to be afraid anymore. I promise, I will take care of you."
Clay just looked at her. "It's hard for me to trust you." He said.
"You can trust me." Luralei said. "Let's go downstairs. I'll show you around."
The two exited the building. Clay still slightly skeptical about the strange woman.
The first stop was the hall where all the food was kept. A guard opened the door for them. Clay looked at all the different sorts of food laid out on the tables.
"Luralei, who is this?" The guard asked as he approached the young man.
"Hey, he's new." Luralei said.
"What is his name?" The guard said again, looking at Clay.
"Clay... It's Clay." Clay said quickly.
"Clay this is Leal. His job is as a guard." Lorelei said.
"Hi Clay." The guard said cheerfully.
Clay just nodded, unsure of what to do
"So Clay. What are you doing here?" The guard asked.
"I just awoke here." Clay answered.
"Like all the others." Luralei whispered
"I see." The guard said. "Well you must be hungry."
"Yeah." Clay said.
"I'll get some food." The guard said. "There's pie and some juice in the back. I'll be back in a minute."
The guard went back to the kitchen and reappeared with one large tray. He placed it on the table.
"Here you go." The guard said.
"Thanks." Clay said and took the tray.
Loralei smiled at him.
"So what do you think of all this?" Luralei asked while walking outside again.
"It's alright." Clay said.
They slowly walked back to Luralei's house.
