It's been...exactly over a year since Tony's been gone.
A thing Peter Parker still couldn't comprehend as he looked down at the glasses the man left behind for him.
His glasses.
That's the other thing too, Peter didn't know why these went to him, why not Morgan when she gets older? Why him?
He wasn't even his child.
Or maybe..under that tough exterior...Tony thought of him as his own.
That's what the avengers, who survived the blip believed. It was what Steve would always tell Peter with fondness.
" Queens, Stark was never the best with emotions. But he loved you like a son. He made you a suit with every safety protocol of events that he's been through painfully. When you were ..well.I never saw the guy so distraught, ' I lost the kid ' he said. Hell, you were his reason to make the time machine. "
Just thinking about it was difficult. Peter wiped the corner of his eyes with his sleeve, sitting on the edge of his bed in the compound, where the avengers let may and Peter stay. Their apartment was..well destroyed with the fight against Thanos.
The parkers couldn't be more grateful. And may get along with a lot of them quite well! Shockingly enough, it was Loki, Thor's brother, who she got along with swimmingly.
Peter enjoyed living there, took his mind off the bad for a while, took his mind off the loss of Tony and the incredulous audacity that, at one point, Nick fury had to try and get this mourning child to go on a mission!
Peter went to Thor then, all about Nick Fury.
It was one of the times Peter saw the god of thunder truly get upset.
Noting down to never upset this man himself.
Thor had a few choice words for Nick that day, spelling on 'how DARE you' and 'you tell him he has to BE the next iron man! There is no next! The spider child cannot, and WILL NOT, live with that over his head. Am I clear?'
Peter wouldn't lie, it was quite a badass sight to watch, even when Nick fury looked the slightest intimidated. Who wouldn't be with Thor on someone's ass like that?
He never got another request for a mission again from fury.
Peter also got to know more about his arachnid partner; Natasha Romanoff. Who was the sweetest and most badass lady there is, he adored her company when they had the chance to talk? Though he was nervous at first, as soon as nat smiled at him with pure ease, he realized there was no need to be scared or worried he'd do something wrong.
Because Natasha saw the good in him and didn't hold any expectations on him like the world seems to have.
None of the avengers did.
While they helped Peter spar, pushed him a little more for certain aspects when all Parker wanted to do was give up. They knew their limits with each other, and they knew how far they could all push each other.
But today was the one day where the avengers knew Peter needed to be alone. Wanted to be.
This boy lost the only father figure he's ever known. They knew the morning the spider boy woke, mute and sluggish, that it was the day Tony 'died'.
Pepper and Morgan even tried to raise Peter's spirits, but it didn't work to no avail.
This was just that day. And they let Peter mourn and grieve the way he needed to.
They all grieved Tony in different ways.
You can find Peter now gathering things up in a bundle, things he planned on delivering to Tony's grave. The weather was growing bitter out now, winter settling in. So he pulled on a warm and comforting jacket as he got prepared, too occupied with getting the things so that he didn't see may standing in the door frame.
" Where are you going, Pete? "
Her voice was soft and quiet, her eyes adoring for that nephew of hers.
