Stef grabbed her candy bag for the night, her favorite by far. Halloween. "Come on, Tommy is waiting for us!" Her friend Jackie yelled.
Stef rolled her eyes and walked out the door letting it slam shut behind her, "Tommy? Yeah like he'd be here, his mom is having Laurie watch him,"
"Let's just hurry over and see then," Jackie smiled.
She sighed and nodded, giving in to her friend's idea, "Fine."
Both of the friends walked and walked, talking about everything they always did, their favorite books currently, television shows, and of course their crushes. Stef had one on Tommy but she'd never admit to it, her friend didn't know about Stef's true feelings and probably never would. Stef was embarrassed, everyone in her grade had dates that were older and that's what everyone wanted from her as well, but she couldn't help but feel the way she did.
For what seemed like only minutes was seconds, Stef lived only a few houses down from him. The two walked up and rang the bell, the sound echoed in the silence for a moment before Tommy opened the door with a girn, "Hey guys! Come on in,"
Jackie walked past him and Stef blushed as she followed her friend, she heard Tommy had closed the door making her jump slightly. She breathed out and her friend patted her back gently, "So guys you ready?" Jackie smiled excitedly.
Tommy looked down to his feet and shrugged, Stef knew he couldn't. She was disappointed but she understood the feeling of overprotective parents. Although the smile fell off of her face she didn't feel entirely sad, "Hey Tommy," She walked closer to him making him look back up, "It's alright how about this, you can have some of our candy-"
"He's not having any of mine," Jackie budded in.
Stef rolled her eyes and continued, "You can have some of my candy after I get most of it,"
This made him smile and nod, Stef felt washed over with happiness from his approval. But she told herself it was from the excitement of going out and getting her favorites like Chocolate bars, Skittles, and Pop Rocks. Oh how much she loved those Pop rocks. She quickly got her things and waved goodbye to Tommy with her friend. "Why'd you do it?" Jackie asked as they started walking to the richer part of the neighborhood.
"Do what?" Stef could feel what Jackie was going to say but she acted like she didn't. Jackie just shook her head and put her tongue in her cheek.
"The whole, 'I'll give you my candy trip'," She said mocking a high voice.
Stef sighed annoyed, "Shut up, he looked sad is all."
"Right," Jackie said sarcastically.
The two made their way to many houses getting full-sized boxes of candy as well. They bragged to the rest of the younger children almost to the point of tears, Stef didn't like what Jackie and her did at times but this time it was funny to her.
"Oh, Jackie I almost forgot," Jackie looked at her confused as she pulled something from my pocket, "This was from Friday I've been meaning to give it to you. Johnny Ghast wanted me to give it to you." Stef handed her the note he wrote in class. Jackie didn't have the same homeroom so he just gave it to her to pass on, Stef has been debating on giving it to Jackie and yes, she knew how terrible that sounded but she didn't care. Johnny was the type of person who anyone and everyone hated. He was only popular because his face wasn't so...terrible.
"Oh my god," She smiled and raised her tone in her words, "Oh my god!"
"What?" Stef said worriedly.
