Broken Pieces

Chapter 1

It was horrible the scream, the sirens and all the people shouting the police telling everyone to back away!
1 day earlier: I woke in the middle of the night to a Big Bang I got out of bed and sprinted down the stairs to see what was going on, My dad had fallen down the stairs.
"Dad What are you doing up so late" I told him
"I'm sorry sweetie I caught up with some friends" he said in a low voice struggling to walk upstairs in a straight line. I could tell he had been drinking it was very obvious but I didn't see him much so I was glad he was home.
I didn't see much of my parents, they were always out, not working but partying or getting stoned. At this time my twin Jacob and I were around nine or ten. We had learnt to look after ourselves really we could make food, do the dishes, do the laundry and walk to school all by ourselves. My dad was a drunk and we never saw him and my mother was an addict and was having an affair with someone from work! There relationship wasn't great so Jacob and I just did things ourselves. My Dad works at a vape shop and my mum works in Asda. But things didn't work out well so if you wanna find out what happens have a read !
It was Tuesday the 7th of December, Christmas was coming up and it was the only time our parents spent time with us! Christmas was Jacob and my favourite holiday so we were very excited.
We came home from school on Tuesday and see our dad sleeping on the couch, it wasn't a surprise. Jacob slowly approached him and gave him a nudge he groaned and told us to go do homework or some shit.
Jacob told me that he had math homework to do and I was in the same class so I said I'd help, an hour or so passed and we had finished our math homework. We heard our parents arguing, it was the same thing over and over again "you married me for a reason so why fucking cheat did this relationship mean nothing to u"
"No I loved you but we were younger then and now ur a complete slut now Eliza"
"GET OUT GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE I CANT KEEP ARGUING WITH YOU WE HAVE KIDS"
Everything went silent, Jacob was crying so I gave him his favourite stuffed animal his bunny.
Jacob and I came running down the stairs like a stampede but we couldn't find our parents we searched the entire house. We thought they'd just went out so we just sat down and started watching the tv. It was around half seven (in the evening). We hear a loud horrific scream from outside, Jacob and I jumped when we heard it so we ran to the window and saw our mothers corpse lying on the road cars driving directly over her. I could see the fear in Jacobs eyes it was so upsetting. The neighbours ran outside and called 999! It was manic everyone was panicking and shouting, until the police arrived they had told everyone to back away from the dead corpse. Jacob and I sat inside until a police officer came in, she made sure we where alright and then told us that unfortunately our mother had perished and they needed to find out how but for now we would be taken into foster care until someone wants to adopt us because we had no other relatives or not even god parents to care for us. We were so young and so confused we had no clue about what Had happened, but what comes next was worse. "JACOB COME BACK NO PLEASE"
"KAYA COME BACK PLEASE" Jacob shouted from the top of his lungs.
We got split up Jacob was going into foster with the Williamson's and I was going to stay with the Cameron's for a while.
How could this happen we are twins we need each other.
The willamsons lived in downtown Brooklyn a very dangerous area to live in, crime rates are high down there!! There house was small and cluttered they had three other kids Ellie, Erin and Leo they were horrible to Jacob they made him feel like he didn't belong he felt lost and empty without Kaya.
Kaya was living in Naples in Florida at the biggest house she could dream of she had a luxury kind bed with soft sheets and she had delicious meals. The Cameron's had no other children and Kaya was living the dream. But she couldn't stop thinking that things could be even better if she had Jacob.
Kaya and Jacob were distanced and couldn't see each other, they struggled but tried to ignore it they missed each other.
Jacob struggled to settle into his new school he didn't fit in, he didn't have friends or anyone to talk to.
Kaya loved her new school she was becoming very popular and managed to make new friends but still thought things would be better with Jacob!
