Up above the small heads of Liyue's inhabitants lies the Jade chamber, a mighty symbol of Ningguang and her power that she held. Not in a malicious manner but rather a reminder of safety for the people, something to gaze upon to admire if life has taken a downturn.
You were her right hand man, a man whom knew all of her quirks and plans. Knowing her before accumulating her massive amounts of wealth she appointed you to tend to her most precious duties.
Scheduling events, meetings, tending to paperwork and of course-
Boyfriend duties.
Yes, you two were in more of a secret relationship. She kept it private to the public as to not draw in any criticism or bad press; you didn't mind at all, you still loved her all the same.
Always admiring her hard work, her determination, her passion for the people. You had always wondered how exactly you could measure up to such a goddess.
You were attending to her personal quarters, making her bed and sorting out anything out of place. Yes this wasn't really apart of your duties as her second hand, but you considered it to be a kind gesture, a thank you if you will.
Enthralled by folding the now ditties sheets you didn't hear the clicking of heels gently connecting to the wooden floor.
"My, aren't you attentive, aren't you supposed to be on your day off?" Her voice smooth as silk, deep as well. It wasn't a masculine deep but rather a matured fine wine.
Your posture stiffened, not quite expecting the company. Grinning you turned around, in your hands were the sheets, shrugging you chuckled. "It had slipped my mind, apologies Miss Ningguang. Shall I take my leave?" You teased, taking a bow to your superior.
The woman hummed, her long slender finger tapping ever so gently on her chin. "I'm not quite sure. It would be nice to have some alone time." She purred, passing by you she sat on her bed, legs crossed.
Her amber coloured eyes caused you to melt, they were sharp yet in your presence soft. A side you were happy to see.
"Oh come on now, you can't always tease forever." You caved, placing the bedding down on the floor.
You made sure to accentuate your pout, of course a dirty tactic to guilt trip your beloved, all in good fun of course. She, with the intuition of an adeptus, can see through your obvious facade.
"Maybe I can? i haven't shown you the full extent of my abilities." she scooted over so you would have a place to sit, but instead you slowly skulked your way over then promptly fell onto the soft mattress.
you lay your head upon her thighs, surprisingly they felt like pillows. you turn to where you're facing her to which she smiles. "despite being my advisor you're one of the most childish [Y/n]. Ganyu and Keqing are younger than you yet outshine your maturity." She began to comb your soft [H/c] hair. Sporting your mischievous grin you pointed with your index finger at her face. "while that may be true, you know you love me either way, isn't that exactly why you fell for me?"
She was caught off guard for a moment, you were exactly right. from the moment you two first met long ago you were quite different from other men whom had tried to seduce or court her. You had always been a man who had put others first, always her needs ahead of yours she had always admired you for that. Never seeking to gain anything from her, and in fact when offering you gifts of fortune or simply a trinket, you always refused.
Ningguang was soon perusing you after years of friendship and guidance, though you never really picked up on the hints until as of recent, but she didn't mind waiting. She was a patient woman.
But that is in the past, now she has you all to herself, the both of you were selfish in a way.
"I do [Y/n]. Growing up I focused on my success only, making this chamber in which we reside in. And yet if it were to disappear tomorrow I wouldn't care."
Her statement made you sit up, your eyes expanded in shock. "What? but you've spent your life building this chamber! I remember when you said that you desired it to grow to the size of an entire continent, yet now you take that back? whatever for?" You stammered, drawing closer to her.
She smiled, raising her hand up to gently stroke your cheek. "Because there is more to life than goals or achievements. Stopping to smell the roses as many people say, such as relaxation, happiness and love. I am content with my life [Y/n], I am happy with you, every day you bring me great joy and fulfillment, that is why i say i dont care. Not simply from neglect but rather because of you." her voice became gentle by the end, kissing your cheek her lips lingered for a moment, it had felt tingly.
this however didnt reassure you, grabbing her hand and engulfing it withing yours you stared into her dazzling eyes. "Ningguang, i dont want to hinder your progress. Please dont let me ever stop you from living your dreams, i am here to assist you. I am your guide, not an obstacle."
The womans breath hitched, her eyes welling with tears, she had never heard such delicate sweet words from you. Oh how you swept her off her feet.
"[Y/n]... I dont deserve you. Youre too good for me." she whimpered.
This side was never shown to anyone before, not even you. Shaking your head you brought her into a warm hug, nustling your head into the crook of her neck. "On the contrary, its I to you. You've given me purpose Ningguang, rather than roaming this lifetime aimlessly ive been given the greatest gift of all. Being by your side until my last breath, helping you accomplish all you wish to gain in life."
Ningguang smiled, you had always had a way with words to uplift her spirits. "I love you [Y/n], with all my heart."
You reel back a smidge, grinning you peck her lips. "I love you too Lady Ningguang."
Rolling her eyes she placed her finger upon your lips, her face scrunched. "Really? Lady Ningguang? No, you get the privilege of calling me Miss Ningguang."
