She woke up with a start. She stood up to look around. She was right by a cliff that had sharp rocks down at the bottom. The creature walked up. The creature that now stood over Lizz had charred skin, and a gaping hole where its stomach should be, you could see its large and small intestine working to digest the last human it encountered. It raised its hand up in the air, preparing to hit her. Lizz's blood began to boil in fear. The creature's hand swooped down and scratched across Lizz's face, from her forehead to her eye, with its middle and ring fingers pushing into the eye causing it to pop like a balloon. Its hand continued down her, face taking her nose with it. It ripped off a majority of Lizz's lower lip and tore up her chin. It happened in just a split second. Lizz went from a beautiful girl to a horrific monster. A red tear crawled its way down Lizz's face and blood poured out of the scratch that the monster created. Then, it held its hand about 2 inches out from her throat, spread out its finders, and dug into her throat, it began to close its fists, destroying Lizz's vocal cords, and it ripped them out. Lizz stood there for a moment before falling backward, as she fell, another red tear fell down her face. She fell down the cliff, and the rocks at the bottom impaled her, finally, ending her torment.

Lizz woke with a start. It was just a nightmare. She was terrified, her heart was racing. She sat up and looked at her alarm clock. 6 A.M. She sighed. She got up and got ready for work. It was Thursday. Only one more day of work for this week after today. After she was done getting ready for work, she looked around her room. Her eyes landed on the bedroom door. A shiver crawled its way down her spine. Her heart began to race again. She slowly approached the door, and prepared for it to swing open, and for her to see the monster from her nightmare again. She reached for the doorknob. It was ice cold. She slowly turned it and opened the door. Her living room was as she left it the night prior. No monsters there to attack her. She sighed again and walked towards her refrigerator. She opened it, and after a moment, got out some eggs.

*THUD THUD THUD*

Lizz jumped. Her eyes darted to her apartment door. She quickly moved to the door to look through the peep-hole in the door to see who it was. It was the landlord. She opened the door, and he was gone. He had placed a note on the ground. The note read:

Ms. Williams,

You seem to be behind on your rent. You were supposed to pay rent last weekend, but I never received it. Normally, I would give a late fee, but as you have been a good tenant, there will be no late fee this time. This is your one and only warning, Next time it will be a late fee, and after that, it will be a more serious consequence. Please have the rent in by the end of the day.

Thank you,

Henry Jefferson

She had forgotten to pay rent. She would need to pay it tonight. She closed her door and went back to her kitchen, and cooked her eggs.

She went back to her desk and looked at the time. 4:24 P.M. She realized something was wrong. It felt like just moments ago she had been cooking her breakfast, and now she was at work. How had she gotten here? Where did the past few hours go? She stood up and looked around the office. It was empty. She was the only one there. It was pitch black outside, with the exception of one light. It was coming from a few miles away. She assumed it must have been near central park. Then the light was gone, and she was back in her apartment. It was 12 o'clock. She was late for work. She had blacked out. She swiftly got up and left her apartment to go to work. As she ran down the stairs, she heard the landlord yell at her to not forget her rent. She wasn't listening. She only lived a block away from the office building in which she worked at. The rest of the day was normal. She got home, and everything was fine. She went to bed that night and had yet another nightmare.

Everything was dark. There was only one light off in the distance. She began to walk towards it. She could barely move. It felt like she was being weighed down. Every step was harder than the last. She walked for what felt like hours, and the light didn't seem any closer. The only sign that she had that she was actually moving was the fact that now, she was walking through a forest in the middle of the night. She looked back and noticed that all the trees behind her were dead. They had no leaves. They were leaning over as if they were waiting for someone to pass them so they could grab them.

*SNAP*

Her eyes darted forward to see what the noise was. In front of her was a giant structure. She walked up to it, and it roared to life, then she woke up.
