The Selection

.........do I need to review this? I don't think so, but I will regardless.

The Selection, by Kiera Cass, was bloody horrible.

But it was, by all means, a fun read. I didn't like the concept or execution, but it was a light read without much heavy lore. I read the series over the summer, which means mid-July into early August. It was trashy, with the basic premise of a reality TV show. It's the type of thing I'd make fun of my sister for reading.

America Singer was a god-awful protagonist with a weak love triangle. There's no suspense or wonder. You know who Maxon with pick. (My phone just tried to autocorrect Maxon to Amazon. Lol.)

  Anyways, onto the review!

First up, the entire series. I get it, it's from around 2012-2014, so that's some explanation, but it's not enough. Was the author high when she wrote this? Actually, that's what I ask myself about most 2000's YA books. Some were good, but not most.

  Back to the review.

It is a trilogy series, with a second "series," that's a duology.

The series is about a 17 year old girl names America Singer (gag) and her being thrown into the glitz and glamor of the Selection. Basically, Prince Maxon has to pick one girl out of 35, then 6, then 4, with more girls getting eliminated from the competition.

Of course, there's the pretty, mean girl Celeste. And then there's Aspen, America's old "boyfriend."

I don't have the words to describe my annoyance with this book. It was stupid. America practically screams, "I'm not like other girls!!!!!!!" It's just as bad as Ever Bloom or Zoey Redbird (what is that name?).

She's fiery 'cause she has red hair, and totally different from every other girl. She's not in love with Prince Maxon! She's only there for the food! She doesn't wear makeup! When she wins a bet, she gets to wear.....jeans! How unusual! Gag me until I die. America was the worst. I wanted to kill her.

  Faults

  -Everything.

-The entire plot was so stupid.

Anyways, there was a different book called Bring Me His Heart, which was basically the same, but with witches and magic. It was just as bad.

  Overall rating: 2/10
