It's 11 o'clock in the morning. The sun is shining in to my room, as I forgot to close the curtains last night, when I came home from work. I worked a shift from noon to midnight, I was exhausted.
'Emily, Emily!' my brother Mike yelled when walking into my room, waking me up. 'What's wrong?' I said. 'My friend and I got tickets a couple of weeks ago to go to the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking.' Mike said with full excitement. 'But he got sick and he can't make it, can you please come with me?' He asked, while making puppy eyes. 'Can't you just go with dad?' I said, not wanting to go. 'Em, he's drunk again.' He said. We lost our mother when I was 5 years old and my brother was 9 years old at that time. My dad hasn't been the dad we remember when we were younger. Then he was the most lovely father, who did everything with his children and wife. Now he's a drunk man, who doesn't work and hasn't been outside our little house in a little town just outside of London in years. Mike and I work hard to be able to pay the bills. We only still live with our father because we can't afford to life somewhere else. And we are scared that if we leave him, we will never see him again. 'Alright, I'll go with you, just give me some time to make myself ready.' I said and Mike widely smiled at me and walked away.
After a few minutes I jumped out of bed and took a shower. I washed my body with a flowery soap and put some Cocos shampoo in my hair. I got out of the shower and blow dried my hair. Put on this cute dark blue dress who showed my curves perfectly. I don't have the most beautiful thin body, but I accepted myself and my body. Put on some mascara and did my eyebrows. It was a hot summer day so I didn't put on too much make-up. I walked downstairs and saw my dad lying unconscious on the couch with an empty bottle of vodka next to him. I took a blanket and tucked him in. He felt cold even though it was summer. I took the vodka bottle and threw it away, left a note next to my dad saying that Mike and I will be out for the day and we would return tonight.
'Mike, shall we go?' I screamed through thehouse and Mike ran up to me. 'Yes, I can't wait to see everything.' Mike said.My brother has been a fan of Formula 1 since the first time he watched it withmy mother. My mom was the biggest fan of everyone. Every time my brotherwatched a race he would eat my mom favourite snack, she always ate it when shewatched a race, and he still gets a bit emotional watching a race without her. Iam not a fan of F1. I only know the bigger names, like Max Verstappen or LewisHamilton, and teams, but that's it. I don't understand a thing about the sport.
We drove about 20 minutes to the McLaren Centre and when we got out we went inside. My brother told me that it was some kind of open day in the Centre, so people could take a look around the Centre. We walked into the large glass building from McLaren. They scanned our tickets and we started the tour. We went to all sorts of rooms and the tour guide told us what kind of work happens in every room. I didn't understood anything the guide told us. I told my brother I had to go to the loo and took off. I had no idea where the bathroom was and I got lost. I grabbed my phone to call my brother, but then I felt someone touching my right arm. I turned around and there was this cute guy standing in front of me. 'Got lost?' He asked. 'Yeah, I was looking for the bathroom, but it's like a maze in here.' I said with a smile on my face. The guy chuckled. 'I'm Lando.' He said, while putting his hand up for me to shake it. 'My name is Emily.' I said, while shaking his hand. Not having a damn clue that I was talking to a Formula 1 driver.
'I will take you to the bathroom, I understand you got lost here.' He said. He walked in front of me and started asking me questions about my life. When we arrived at the bathroom he got a phone call, he had to get back to work. So I thanked him and finally got to go to the toilet.
