You sit in your room, as it seems the world is falling apart around you.  Stress, depression, caving in on you.  You go to tell your friends how you're feeling.  However, you quickly withdrawal.  Guilt over takes your hands, hearts, and lungs.  As you shut your laptop, and shut out your help.  Then your phone vibrates.  As his name pops up with hearts.   You ignore it, you don't need this.  Then another text, and another.  Eventually, a call is coming.  You answer it, with shaky hands and voice.

"Hey, y/n, I thought we had plans?"  he says. You freak out again, are you standing him up?  You look at your calendar and  see 'Anniversary' with a number of hearts around it.  You burst into tears, and hang up.  Thoughts race through your head: Why would I hang up?  What's wrong with me? Did I hurt him?  Then you see headlights in your driveway.  You knew it was him.  You head downstairs and hesitantly open the door.

He looks at you, not with the expected disappointment, but worry.  He grabs you and hugs you and kisses your forehead.  You can't hold back the tears.  He just continues hugging you, and shuts the door.  He gestures you to the couch, and as he does, you slow your breathing.

"y/n, what's wrong?" He says concerned.

"I...I don't know, life?" You say truthfully.

"It's going to be okay, I'm here now," he whispers to you, calming you even more.  All you want is to forget this ever happened, and enjoy your anniversary.  "I get it if you don't want to go out tonight.  Perhaps, another night?"

"No, it's aright, I need to get out of my own head." As you say that, you get up to get dressed.  You get up to your room and change your sweatpants for jeans, and put cardigan over your t-shirt.  Then you head back to human civilization.  You expect to go to a bar, restraint, or to his place.  However, it's anything but that.  As you pass the busy down town, and head to the river.  He opens your door and you get out. "Why here?"

He chuckles and hands you a chair and a blanket.  You sit and stair at the clear night sky, wondering why such a sweet guy would chose you.  You push the sad thought to the back of your mind.  Next thing you know, he is right next to you, holding your hand.

"You know, I love you so damn much." He says while rubbing your thumb.  The tears form, as you lean in and kiss him.  He leans over and pulls out lanterns, and a lighter.  Looking closely at the lanterns, you see your anniversary date.  He hands you a lantern and lights it.  He then does his own.  He looks at you and smiles at you, as the two of you release.   Again, you two kiss as you stare back to the stars, beautiful and distant. Then you look at him again.

"Why me?" you ask very seriously.  He looks at you, and puts a hand to your cheek.

"Because, you see, I was alone once two.  Then one day, the most beautiful girl walked into my life.  One could say, she gave light, to my once very dark world." He says as he removes his hand.

Your head rests on his shoulder, and you grab his arm.  Your gaze is directed to the two lanterns swirling in the air.

"Thank you for lighting my life." He says.  You then see his face with tears, that you quickly whip away.  Without the ability to from words, you just sit their.  Not awkward, it's just a sweet moment that you wish you could freeze this moment forever.
