“We were just going to go get Violet here her schedule.” Rashel said answering his Question

“Violet. Hmm I like it.” He mumbled under his breath. “Oh well let me take h—“the bell rang cutting him off, he paused waiting for it to end,”—take her I wouldn’t want you to be late.”

Rashel looked at me expectantly, “Uh sure?” I said it like a question not sure if he was talking to me or to Rashel.

She winked at me and said “ Okay you two have fun.” calling behind her shoulder as she strolled away she added ” And be good Cameron, don’t corrupt her.”

“Yeah yeah.” he muttered under his breath. “I’m not as bad as she says I am.” He reassured me in his normal voice.

“Suuuuure,” I taunted him, “don’t worry I believe you.”He laughed and smiled, which made my heart leap at how adorable he looked.

“Thanks, but shhhhh keep it a secret we can’t let my reputation get ruined,” he whispered softly in my ear causing me to involuntarily shiver, “The office is this way.”

He touched my back guiding me down the hall to the left and into a room that looked just like the office back in Oklahoma. He asked the secretary for my schedule who took a moment to look it up and print it off. She gave it to him with a smile he said thanks and we made our way out the door. As we strode through the halls he read my schedule while I tried to snatch it from his hands. He held it high above his head and away from me.

“Science first block, hey you got English with me—“he jumped to the right to avoid my hand reaching for the paper. “French—you’re in French?” he didn’t wait for me to answer and continued reading.”Calculus?”

“What? I like math.” I defended myself frowning. He looked down for a second giving me the opportunity to seize my schedule and finish reading it—in my head. “So where is room 168 anyway?”

“ I’ll take you, it’s just around the corner.” He said while we turned and he pointed. “It’s this one here.”

I twisted around to face him, “Uh I got to go…thanks for walking me here.”

“Sure, I’ll see you in English.” He said and turned to leave.

“Wait!”

He stopped and faced me.

“You never told me your name.”

“Cameron, Cameron Porter.” He smirked and left

I opened the classroom door and was greeted by twenty-five teens all staring at me and one old professor looking man. He looked puzzled for a moment then seeming to collect himself he concluded “ You must be our new student…uh,” he looked down at his list, “ Violet Dynes, right?”

“Yup that’s me.” I said awkwardly wishing everyone would stop staring.

“Why don’t you tell us a bit about yourself.” The teacher suggested.

“Umm ok well… I’m from Oklahoma, I moved up here two days ago, I am living with the Kimball’s.” I announced to the class

There was an uncomfortable silence. The teacher clapped his hands and rubbed his palms together. “O.K…you can sit there.” He said pointing to an empty desk in the second row next to a red head that I learned was named Gretchen. The class went by in a boring blur, I could tell this was going to be a very drawn out waste of my time. The teacher, who the students called Mr. B.O. behind his back droned on the entire block eventually fading into the background of the fluent side chatter of the students.
