*Jessica is 24 and just moving to Seattle*

"OK folks, we will be landing this aircraft very shortly so please ensure that all drop trays are securely up and all bags are put back safely in the designated places. The current time here in Washington is 8:15pm and we hope you have a good time here in Seattle. Thank you" The British pilot explained as air hosts and hostesses  walked up and down the airplane informing people with headphones on, completely oblivious to what was being said. There was a woman sitting next to me who, as soon as the pilot had finished his announcement, started completely freaking out saying to her boyfriend (what I presumed) all kinds of crazy stuff like "what if the plane misses the runway?" and "what if when it's going down, the plane doesn't tilt the right way again and we go straight into the ground?". People seriously get that worried? I love flying, I can't honestly think of a serious reason not to like it.

The plane was coming into land and I watched the clouds zoom by to reveal the magnificent lights of the city. Seattle. This is where my new life starts. Seattle has fascinated me for years, since I was about 13 years old I knew I wanted to move and have a life here one day. Even thought I love my home in England, I love visiting different parts of the world and Seattle was definitely my favourite place.

As we came closer and closer to the ground I started to get butterflies in my stomach. I couldn't wait to see what will happen out here! I have a job ready and waiting for me at the local Starbucks down the road from my apartment, it's not the best job but it'll get me started so I can save some money and get the job I want - a photographer.

The plane reached the ground and everyone all stood gathering their bags and bundling off of the plane. As we got inside the airport, passport control was fairly quick and quiet and I found my suitcase OK in baggage claim. It was now 9:00pm and I was standing outside the airport looking around at the bright lights of the buildings and the cars driving all around me. My fascination was interrupted by the beep of a taxi horn and a man inside waving me over in that kind of 'I can take you to where you need to go because you're obviously a tourist and you need to get somewhere' way.

I walked over as he got out and said "Good evening Miss, where are you heading this evening?" in a very strong American accent. I should get used to hearing that.

"Flat 42, Krypton Boulevard I believe" I told him hoping I'd said it right

"Ah yes, that's a nice area, just out of town. Quieter than this but you still feel the buzz of the city. Are you staying with a friend here?" The driver said as we both got into the clean, new looking cab.

"No, I'm moving actually, I always wanted to come out here" I said with a smile as the driver nodded.

About 15 minutes into the journey I asked the driver to drive by the nearest Starbucks to the apartment, just so I roughly knew where to walk tomorrow.

As we pulled up outside Starbucks I was very impressed with how modern and clean this part of town was. I'll admit, I let my brother find and decorate the apartment as he was into buying property and he only lived on the other side of town.

We slowly approached the turning to Krypton Boulevard and, once again, I felt excitement rush through my body.  As we pulled up to my new apartment block, the driver carried my cases up for me as I lived on the top floor of the 3 story building.I stepped inside and I was blown away with the decor. In the living room there was a 60 inch flat screen HD TV mounted in the centre of the wall and a massive L shaped leather chocolate brown sofa facing it, the colour perfectly complementing the cream walls.

"Wow..." I said looking around at my new home. My bedroom had the most magnificent view out to the city.

So, this is the beginning of my new life, now I just need to find the liquor stores...
