Prologue
The front door slammed shut, shaking the house. This wasn't unusual. If anything it was a regular occurrence. So much that they had installed a stronger door stopper, just to keep the walls intact and free of doorknob sized holes.
I checked my watch. Yelling was scheduled for around 5 past 6pm. I was struggling to find my headphones, something that I'd need for when the event would occur, but simply could not seem to find them. I didn't leave them in the kitchen, did I?
That wouldn't be good, but it was the only place I hadn't checked. If I could make it quickly in and out I should be able to grab it without issue.
My anxiety made my heart start beating faster. There shouldn't be an issue. Just be nice, don't get in his way and be quick.
I place my hand on the doorknob and slowly turn it, looking through the crack between the door and its frame. No one was in the hallway, and the TV in the living room was blasting sound from whatever was on the Netflix top 10.
I open the door wider and peak my head down the hallway. The kitchen bench could be seen just down the hall. Slowly and carefully making my way through the doorframe, a breath I didn't realize I was holding escaped my lips. My feet carry me silently yet fast down the hall and into the kitchen. I quickly spot the blue headset case on the bench. Darting over, I snatch the case and quickly make my way back to my room, carefully closing the door behind me.
Well, that didn't go as badly as I thought.
Not a moment too soon as my father started yelling about how long dinner was taking. Pulling out my phone I put in the Bluetooth headphones and scroll through YouTube recommended.
I sit on my bed and sigh.
"You know I'll never leave you right? You can talk to me." Jahde said. I knew she spoke the truth. She had always been there for me since we were young.
"I'm ok Jahde. I just wanna watch something and forget about it." I respond. My finger flicks up as I continue scrolling through YouTube recommended. A Minecraft video peaks my interest as I stop to read the title. '100 players simulate civilization in Minecraft'. Seems interesting enough.
I click on it, letting the video load. My phone seems so struggle to load the video, taking an abnormal amount of time. After minutes of being met by a blank black screen, I notice something creeping up on the corners. It looked almost like it was.. glitching? Blue sparks of pixels that seem to speed up with each second passing. I place the phone down, backing away as the blue pixels merge into a blue light, a light that seems to grow from the screen and up before me.
The room glows an eerie blue, uncomfortable silence tingling on my shoulders. I go to reach for the door, but flinch away as a voice speaks behind me.
"Jade right?"
I spin around to face a man. Young looking, probably around my own age. With black hair and dark eyes, probably brown.
I nod silently, having no clue what's going on.
He smiles. "Did you wanna go to a place where everyone enjoys what you clicked on?"
I look at him, confused. "Wait... what? Like a community for people who like Minecraft?"
"Something like that." He slowly reaches his hand out as an offer. "You just have to accept by taking my hand."
My mind is swirling with thoughts. This is crazy. What is even happening? Who is he?
But even in the confusion, one thing stands tall and clear. Anything would be better then here.
"Go with him. Think of it like an adventure." Jahde spoke to me. If Jahde thought it was ok, then it was worth a shot. After all, Jahde always had my best interests at heart.
I raise my hand to accept his as I ask, "Who are you? How did you make this happen? What is going on?"
He smirks and takes my hand, the blue light growing brighter around us.
"Magic, of course." He responds as world around us disappeared.
