45. A Family Dinner

“Come on! He just invited you to dinner! Did say he anything about helping you!”

“Well, it is more like a family dinner with Tong’s presence, okay? Of course, I can say anything at a family dinner!”

Chen Shan looked at Qi Le An like he were a lunatic, “Family dinner? You and Wei are family now?”

Qi Le An: “…”

“Sorry, I was wrong, not a family dinner.”

Chen Shan: “You… did you hurt your hand or your brain?”

Qi Le An wished he were an ostrich so he could bury his head under his wings.

The afternoon passed by quickly in Chen Shan’s teasing. In the evening, Gary came to pick Qi Le An up and arrived at the restaurant early.

Wei Chang Feng would come together with Director Chen after work. As for Tong, she would stroll over by herself after she checked in.

So now there were only two people in the private room, Qi Le An and Gary, and they gazed at each other in silence. Qi Le An coughed awkwardly, and said, “I’ll call Wei  Sama…”

“Probably not,” Gary said with indifference, “What if he is still working.”

Qi Le An touched his nose awkwardly and said, “That’s right.”

Silence reigned the room again.

For Gary, Wei Chang Feng’s assistant, Qi Le An had always kept him at a respectful distance had this icy manner towards people.  His workability was outstanding, and everything he did was planned for Wei Chang Feng’s development. Qi Le An remembered that in his last life, this assistant had been following Wei Chang Feng diligently.

Fortunately, the ringing of the phone relieved the embarrassment between the two of them. Gary walked away to answer the call, he returned to Qi Le An after a while and said, “Miss Chen is here.”

Sure enough, Tongtong opened the door of the private room shortly after speaking. She greeted Gary first, and then looked at Qi Le An with a smile: “Hi! Long time no see!”

Qi Le An didn’t change his attitude towards Chen Jingtong after he knew who she was, he smiled at Tong and said, “Long time no see, how have you been, Tong.”

Chen Jingtong had a lively and cheerful nature. Seeing Qi Le An’s arm, she couldn’t help but exclaimed, “I’ve been well, how are you though? I was shocked after seeing the pictures on the entertainment news, I didn’t feel relieved until I called Wei Ge! I heard that there was a lot of blood, does it still hurt? ”

Qi Le An shook his head and said, “It just looks scary, it’s nothing.”

Tong curled her lips and said, “You are my idol! I feel sad on seeing you having the slightest wound!”

“Don’t worry, it’s okay.”

After the two said a few words, Director Chen and Wei Chang Feng had also arrived. Tong didn’t smile as brightly on seeing her father as to when she saw Qi Le An, but she still took Director Chen by his arm and smiled, “Dad!”

Director Chen beamed, revealing several wrinkles on his face, “Hmm, I called you and invited you several times to come to visit, but you have never shown up. Yet you rushed over when Le An was injured. I’m so sad!”

Tong showed a cheeky smile and greeted Wei Chang Feng.

With that they took their seats, Gary told the waitress that they were ready to be served.

Qi Le An found that Director Chen was a total ‘daughter slave’. (T/N: A ‘daughter slave’ refers to a father who is willing to do anything for his daughter, pays a lot of attention to them, and is kind of clingy towards her.) Director Chen was still asking Tong what she had for lunch when they were having dinner, he was still concerned whether his daughter had a good lunch.

“That’s enough!” Tong said resignedly, “Dad, I’m a big girl, I know how to take care of myself!”

Hearing that, Director Chen changed his mind about serving Tong one more piece of pork chop, his hand halted, and with that, he put the pork chop into his bowl. Tong smiled at Qi Le An and said, “My father is always worried that I’m hungry.”

Qi Le An hurriedly said: “Well… Dads are like this.”

As he spoke, Qi Le An thought of his father, there was a touch of distress in his expression.

‘If my parents were still alive, would they be spoiling me like this?

With that in mind, Qi Le An saw a piece of fish in his bowl.

Wei Chang Feng’s voice rang in his ears, “Eat, you need to eat more for a better recovery.”

Director Chen couldn’t help but said, “Yes, Le An needs to eat more!”

“Dad, you should tell the crew members safety first.” Tong said, “Luckily it’s his arm this time, but the person who moved the boxes was too careless.”

Qi Le An heard that and said immediately, “In fact, I don’t blame others, it’s not uncommon to get injured on the set.”

Director Chen agreed: “That’s so true.”

Qi Le An couldn’t help but cast a glance at Wei Chang Feng. Wei Chang Feng smiled softly at him, with some encouragement in his eyes.

Qi Le An pursed his lower lip and said to Director Chen, “Director Chen, I have a small request.”

Director Chen raised his eyebrows and said, “Tell me what it is.”

“It’s the person who hit me… I feel that he was not in the wrong, it was just a small accident, but this is a very important job for him…”

Director Chen had of course heard what happened, but when he heard Qi Le An’s request, he glanced at this young man in front of him in surprise. He had a hunch that Qi Le An felt wronged and came to him to complain, but he didn’t expect he was begging for leniency for others?

Qi Le An said shyly, “So Director Chen, can you let that person come back to work?”

And Dou Zhi Yuan had his job back just like that.

Qi Le An beamed and said to Director Chen: “Thank you, Director Chen!”

“Just call me Uncle Chen like Chang Feng now that we are not on the set.”

After dinner, Wei Chang Feng asked Gary and Director Chen to escort Tong back to the hotel in the city, and he would go back with Qi Le An.

No one had any objection to this arrangement. After bidding farewell to each other, Tong got into the car reluctantly after Qi Le An promised her that they would catch up again soon.

Gazing after Director Chen and his daughter, Wei Chang Feng smiled at Qi Le An, “Let’s snatch a little leisure from a busy life, is there anything you wanna do?”

The restaurant was just located by the Canton Tower, right next to the Pearl River which was adorned by many cruise ships floating on it.

Wei Chang Feng saw Qi Le An’s gaze and said, “It may be too late to jump on the cruise ship, do you want to take a walk by the riverside?”

Qi Le An averted his gaze and said half-jokingly, “I am happy to do anything with Wei Sama!”

Wei Chang Feng smiled dotingly, he shook his head and said, “You… are a kid.”

Qi Le An sighed, ‘Is it good or not to be treated as a child by you, Wei Chang Feng? You must know that a reborn soul is trapped in this body, a reborn soul that yearns for your love.
