Cake x and x Cupcakes

You yawned as you walked back to your spot at the wall and waited, though you found out the effects of most of the poisons you had out already. Three new people, who had just recently arrived, had caught your eye. There was one who looked the oldest. Dark hair, weird glasses, suit case... everything about him yelled 'old' in your mind. You secretly wondered if he was the other twos chaperon. The next one was a really chipper and hyper looking boy with black gravity-defying spiky hair and dressed in mostly green. Then there was the last one, blond hair and some strange clothing and after a long time of thinking it over, you decided to think he was just a very feminine guy. Not a girl.

The three were walking by one of your food set ups when the old-looking one spotted your cupcakes. "Hey look guys, its cupcakes! Let's have some, I'm really hungry after that long trip..." he said while picking up a cupcake.

You eagerly pulled out your small notebook and watched carefully, prepared to write should anything happen. However just as he was about to take a bite the blond one slapped the cupcake out of his hand.

Dang it...

"Oi! What as that for Kurapika!?" The older man asked, glaring down at the other who just sighed and shook his head.

"Listen Leorio..." Kurapika sighed. "We are at the hunter exam. Of all places this would be one where you don't just pick up random food and start eating it. Especially when there is a sign saying NOT to and there are eerie decorations like a skul-"

Kurapika stopped mid-sentence when he and Leorio whipped around after hearing Gon spit something out. "GON!" they both yelled wide eyed.

"Ew that tasted bad! Don't taste the cupcakes guys, I think the person somehow accidentally put some poisonous plants in it without knowing." Gon said while whipping his mouth.

You barely held in your laughter but at the same time where kind of shocked. That kid had an amazingly frightening sense of taste. You thought you drowned out the cassava and poison ivy leaves flavors for sure... wait... was he a poison master too!?

...

NAH! Couldn't be he's too young and just LOOK at that carefree smile on his face.

Kurapika sweatdropped. "Gon, I don't think you can 'accidently' put a poisonous plant into a cupcake batter."

"Who cares about that! Why the hell would someone poison a cupcake!?!?!" Leorio yelled with his face as red as a tomato.

"I don't know... maybe they wanted to eliminate some of the competition for the hunter exam? That seems most likely..." Kurapika muttered. It was quite obvious that he was the deep thinker of the group. You were starting to doubt that 'Leorio' person was the supervisor since it was quite obvious (to you at least) that the blond boy surpassed the two black haired boys in the means of logical thinking. He was smart.

"Hey guys look! I found more food stands set up like the one back there~!" Gon called waving to the others and pointing at the place you had set the chocolate cake up. Eventually the group located all your stands and Kurapika let out a hum of concentration before his eyes scanned the room. Then it finally clicked.

He was searching out the room for where the best places to see all the all the poisoned food at once. Obviously where you were standing.

You quickly fell to the floor and sat down, flipped the page and started acting like you were drawing. Just as Kurapika was about to glance over the area you were at when they were distracted by someone calling out to him and his two friends. Who?

Tonpa.

You may be to only person to ever think this but thank GOD for Tonpa. You stood back up and flipped your book back open. "I take it back. He's not smart... he's really REALLY smart." You muttered to yourself while chuckling nervously.

Gon, Kurapika and Leorio dealt with Tonpa and eventually after a while a mysterious and very thin man, who had exceptionally long legs came in saying he was going to show you to the exam site.

And that's how the exam finally started.
