It was only after the first case happened, when Hyunjin made his appearance.

Chan had accepted the order from the organization and was very busy, but a newcomer was brought to him and said that he would be his assistant so that the child could learn new things.

Chan hadn't slept for a few days, just to find the clues of this big case, he didn't have time to take care of new people. Hearing this, he declined, saying that he really had no time.

The head of the organization dragged him into the room and sighed before telling Chan the truth.

"He is a child from a distant relative's family of mine. During high school summer vacation, when he was in summer camp, his parents were killed at home with extremely cruel methods, but they couldn't find the murderer, so he vowed to become a police and find the murderer himself. Now that he graduated from university, he begged me to come here and said he wanted to accumulate experience."

He seemed to pity Hyunjin very much. "What can I say? Hyunjin had won gold in his competitions in highschool, and could be admitted to the best university in the country. He changed his ambitions because of his parents. He is very smart, you don't need to spend too much time teaching him."

Chan lit a cigarette, reluctantly agreed. He tilted his head and saw Hyunjin standing outside, his fine black hair scattered around his neck, looking at the birds standing in a row on the branches.

This was the first time Chan looked at Hyunjin squarely. Very thin, pretty, and naive.

He simply wasn't fit for the profession of a police.

Chan regretted that he agreed so fast.

Sure enough, Hyunjin was a waste. Not to mention if he had any thoughts, he couldn't even take notes properly. Chan was so angry that he scolded him twenty times a day.
