Invisible Strings (VERY SLOW UPDATES)

Chapter Twelve

"Oh c'mon, I can feed myself." Yoonhee complained but the older woman ignored her.

"Ahh." Suryeon instructed for her to open her mouth as she placed a spoonful of food in front of her. The redhead rolled her eyes but eventually consumed the food.

"Where's Rona?"

"She already went to school." Yoonhee nodded. She wished Rona had stayed, she doesn't want her daughter to get shamed because of her again.

Suryeon continue feeding the redhead. The brunette was eerily quiet, the younger woman eyed her suspiciously.

"Don't you have something to tell me?" The brunette broke the silence.

"Me? Nothing." The redhead answered simply. She doesn't have any plans on involving her with her problem.

Suryeon gritted her teeth. She feels frustrated at how the redhead always lie to her. It always open up wounds she tried so hard to heal long ago. She stood up which made Yoonhee look up at her.

"I need to go now. Finish the food, okay?" She said, forcing a smile. Yoonhee nodded.

Suryeon turn around and was about to leave when Yoonhee spoke.

"Don't worry too much about what happened last night. Drive safely, okay?"

The older woman only nodded. She turn her hand into a fist and finally got out of the room. She closed the door behind her and shut her eyes tight. She breathed in deep, she wouldn't let Yoonhee handle this alone. No matter how hard the redhead pretends, she knows she's not okay.

After work, Suryeon went to meet her reporter friend. It's been a while since they last met.

"Unnie, it's been a while since I last saw you, how have you been?" Her friend greeted her with a smile.

"I'm okay. I'm sorry for not reaching out often."

"I know you're a busy person so I'll let it slide." Suryeon chuckled at this.

"By the way, Unnie... Your friend, what happened to her?" The younger woman asked eagerly.

"Right, about her, I actually wanted to meet because of that."

Yoonhee decided to skip work for today. She keeps checking and refreshing the website and the article is still there. She bit her lip, she has no idea what'll happen and what can she do to stop this. She needs to do something before this thing mess with their lives.

A sound of the door opening interrupted her thoughts. Rona entered the house. Unaware of her mother's presense, she tiptoed her way to her room. Yoonhee clears her throat. The younger girl slowly turned around and face her mother. The redhead's jaw dropped at her daughter's appearance. Rona was covered in raw egg and even eggshells.

"What happened!?" Yoonhee approached her.

Rona didn't answer and tried avoiding eye contact. Her mother got a hold of her shoulders and shook her gently.

"Rona, what happened?"

"It's nothing mom."

"You come home looking like that and I'm supposed to believe nothing happened to you!?"

"The whole school found out about it. The article." Rona said, tears were streaming down her face.

Yoonhee gulped and clenched her jaw. Her daughter was being punished again, because of her. She headed to the door.

"Where are you going mom?" Rona stopped her.

"I'm going to clear my name, I can't let you suffer again because of me."

"There's no need for that." Rona said.

The older woman frowned. Her daughter gestured for her to look at the television. She shifted her focus from Rona, to the tv and she can't believe the scene before her. It was Suryeon, who was holding a press conference.

Suryeon took a deep breath as cameras flash in front of her while a lot of media people was in front of her with their mics pointing at her. She cleared her throat.

"As you might know, an article from years ago is circulating."

"I feel like I need to clear things up. The alleged murderer of my daughter, Oh Yoonhee is innocent."

The reporters gasped and started whispering among themselves.

"The case has been reopened when we realized that we overlooked a piece of crucial evidence. This contains the video of what truly happened the night ny daughter died."

She showed the hard drive to the media and handed it to her secretary. Everyone gasped as the video of Seola's murder played in a big screen. Suryeon shut her eyes close. Even just hearing the audio makes her heart hurt, but she must do what's necessary.

The video finally stopped playing. The press is now whispering among themselves again. One reporter cleared his throat.

"So does that mean, Oh Yoonhee was imprisoned for three years for nothing?"

"Unfortunately, yes. The reason why I'm clearing this now is because Oh Yoonhee and her family doesn't deserve the harsh words people has been giving her. She isn't a murderer, but a savior."

"I hope I was able to clear this issue. I would like to apologize not only to Oh Yoonhee but to the people who has been falsely accused and has been robbed of living a normal life."

Suryeon bowed down in front of the press. She was escorted outside of the building by her guards. When she finally went to her car, she checked her phone. She was surprised by how fast can articles be uploaded online. She saw one about her press conference.

She was glad to see it trending. She was hoping that with this, Yoonhee and Rona will finally go back to living their lives peacefully. She clicked on the article and checked the comment section. She was relieved that people seem to be changing their opinions about Yoonhee. However, she saw comments about her being irresponsible about not clearing it up earlier.

The brunette closed her eyes and sighed. They were right, maybe if she did, she wouldn't have to see her struggling to breathe last night. She closed her eyes again, this time a tear rolled down her cheek. She was so scared that night. She felt that familliar feeling of pain and helplessness. It brought her back to the time she saw two of the most important people in her life die in front of her.

She's afraid of losing someone she loves again. If enduring harsh treatment from the public is what she gets in exchange of protecting the one she loves then so be it. This time, she have the chance to protect her loved and she will do everything it takes to do so.
