"Rona, thank you. For being there for Seokhoon and for befriending Seokkyung despite everything."
"It's nothing Ms. Shim. Those two are practically my siblings now."
Suryeon felt warm. Hearing those words from Rona touched her heart. Maybe her dream of a future with Yoonhee and their kids isn't too far fetched after all.
She suddenly remembered her conversation with Yoonchul earlier. She needs to find out what triggered Yoonhee's panic attack.
"Rona, did something happen before your mom had her panic attack? What do you think triggered it?"
The younger girl gulped. She contemplated on telling Suryeon about the news article. Her eyes darted around the room. Suryeon noticed this, she could tell that the girl was hesitant on telling her something. She took a step closer to Rona and put a hand on her shoulder.
"It's okay, Rona. You don't have to tell me."
"Actually, something happened..."
Rona and Suryeon was sitting on the living room now. The older woman listened as the younger girl told her what happened prior to the incident earlier. The younger girl pulled out her phone and showed her the article that was still trending and are receiving hate comments. Suryeon frowned. How can an article years ago resurface so suddenly?
"Mom must've been afraid when she saw it. I tried hard not to let her know but..." Rona covered her face with her hands. She couldn't help but cry.
Suryeon sat beside her, she hugged the girl and tried to calm her down. A lump formed in her throat as guilt began to consume her. Somehow, this was her fault. If they had thoroughly investigated her daughter's case and her faith toward Yoonhee's goodness didn't waver, maybe they could've avoided this situation.
"Don't cry Rona. I'll fix this." Rona finally looked up. She saw fire in Suryeon's eyes. For a moment, she felt scared. She never saw the woman like that before. She gulped and asked,
"How?"
Yoonhee woke up. She slowly got up, her mouth parted when she saw Suryeon sleeping. She was sitting on the floor beside her bed, with only her head resting on the mattress, using her own arm as pillow.
"Suryeon." She shook her and the older woman immediately regained her consciousness.
The brunette rubbed the sleep off her eyes and looked up at the redhead who was looking at her, annoyed.
"Why did you sleep in that uncomfortable position?"
"I didn't want to disturb your sleep."
"You should've gone home when I fell asleep."
"I promised to be here when you wake up." Suryeon countered.
The redhead sighed. She's never going to let her win. She was about to get out of bed when Suryeon stopped her.
"Don't even think about it." Suryeon said firmly.
"What? You want me to stay in this bed forever?" Yoonhee chuckled.
"Stay there, I'll fetch your breakfast. If you move... there'll be consequences."
"What? You're threatening me now?" Yoonhee shook her head in disbelief.
Suryeon said nothing and got out of her room. When she returned, she was carrying a tray full of foods. She put the tray in front of Yoonhee.
Yoonhee reached for the spoon but Suryeon beat her to it. The younger woman's jaw dropped.
