~NIALL'S POV~

I looked at my phone again. My background was a picture of Abs and I the last time we were together. we were in her backyard and were making ridiculous faces into the camera. God, how I missed her. I sighed as I tossed my phone onto the couch. I hated lying to her about when we would be back. But if I wanted everything to turn out right, then I had to. I wanted to surprise her. Just two more days, Niall. I told myself. Two days until you get to see her beautiful face again.

Liam suddenly waltzed into the room. "G'day mate," he said in his best Australian accent. Even though we were in New Zealand, Liam still had a strange infatuation with Australia. Sometimes at night, I would hear him talking to Danielle on the phone about our trip there. And from the sound of it, the repeated story was beginning to bore her. I let out a small chuckle at his accent anyways, and Liam instantly sensed something was wrong. "You okay?"

I looked up at him. "Yeah, I guess. I just miss her, ya know?" Liam wa sthe only one who had met Abby, and they seemed to click right away. He knew how much she meant to me and how close we were.

"Listen Niall," he began, sitting down next to me. "I didn't tell you this the day we left, but I'm going to tell you now. I saw the way you looked at her. And the way your eyes light up when you talk about her. I see how big your smile gets when she texts you, or calls you, or whenever you just see her picture. And honestly Niall, although you may be just friends...well, it's pretty obvious that you feel something more." I stared at him, my eyes wide. I'm in love with Abby?

"L-Liam," I stuttered. "I don't think I am in love with Abby." I looked down at my hands, and I felt my face flush with embarrassment. I don't know why he even suggested it. I mean sure, Abs is smart, pretty, funny, has an adorable laugh, is a great singer, an all-around perfect girl...Stop it Niall! I thought. You don't love Abby...do you?

"Sure you don't Niall..."

"Seriously! I just miss her a lot. I've known her for almost twelve years! She's my best friend Li! I would do anything for her, just like she would do anything for me! Abby is a friend. Nothing more. And even if she was to me, she would never want me! She can do so much better than me! She's so pretty, and smart, and ugh! I don't like her like that Liam!" I was kind of mad at Liam for suggesting the idea, and seemed a little taken aback at my raised voice. I threw my head in my hands.

"Niall," he started softly. "I didn't mean to upset you. I just wanted you to know what I saw. And I think I saw love. Maybe I was wrong, I don't know. But that's for you to figure out. I'm sorry Nialler." Hearing him call me Nialler reminded me of Abby, which gave me butterflies and saddened me even more at the same time.

"It's fine Li," I said with a small smile. "I get it, you wanted to help was all."

"Exactly," Liam smiled. "I didn't mean to cause any problems. I just wanted to know if you did love her. I understand that you miss her, but just think about it Niall, two days from now she'll be in your arms again."

"As soon as I see her, I'm going to give her the world's biggest hug." I smiled pretty big and Liam laughed.

"Now that's the Irish boy I wanna see!" He stood up. "Up for some breakfast?"

"Um, Liam," I chuckled. "Has there ever been a time when I've said no to food?" He looked at me seriously as we grabbed our jackets.

"Good point." As we walked to a nearby breakfast house, I couldn't help but think of Abby. The more I thought of her, the happier I became.Maybe I really do love her...
