Dimitri sat in his bed quietly. Every time Luna looked at him, there was a smile plastered on his face. It almost scared her, for it seemed so unnatural. 

He was quiet most of the time, almost as if he'd never been shot, and that was the strangest part: His body showed no signs of injury. No scarring, no wound what-so-ever. It was all so strange, Luna and Jimmy couldn't wrap their heads around it.

One year later the pure-humans started to allow the half-breeds into their lives. The segregation was coming to an end and Luna was soon returned to her parents. Though she could never forgive them, she tried to live there for a month, before finally leaving to live with Jimmy and Dimitri, whom he adopted into his care. 

Dimitri was happy to be back with Luna, though there was much tension between Jimmy and Dimitri ever since Evan, who, they learn, was actually a "Frankenstein Monster." Evan was created by Jimmy to replace the son he lost. A basic humanoid, equipped with the attributes of a Dog. Jimmy explained how he never meant for the project to spread this far, but somehow the Evan DNA was transferred into the pure-human society. Luna was the 14th to be affected, Dimitri being one of the first. 

"But, how was I born like this then?"

Jimmy tried to explain how, in some cases, the DNA was injected. Luna understood, thinking about how children, babies, would get vaccines. Someone must've switched them out.

Dimitri eventually asked--Insisted really--to marry Luna. Luna complied and they were married later that same year. A few months later, Dimitri had a sort of "mental relapse"\f0 \f1 and lost the majority of his memory between the meeting of Evan and their marriage. Luna slowly brought him back to health and they were happy. 

For the first time in years, they felt something.

They felt safe.
