Today was finally a day kayla had thought about for weeks. They had a date with Julia after months of gathering up courage to ask through flustered stutters and fidgeting hands.
"Okay okay I'm gonna be fine Shit will be good.." Kayla mumbled to themselves As she got up to get ready. Giving her cat Luna a quick pet before gathering their clothes. Thanks to the power of thrift stores and a gremlin friend who can sew she had picked a flowing dress that was a sheer almost pink with little daisys on the collar and was just above her knees. She had also gotten a cute sun hat to match and a bag that was long enough to be a cross body.
Kayla , after looking over thier things a couple times, took a shower and after almost tripping over everything even air got dressed.
The day was nice and cool so wearing makeup was a go for the occasion. Light and complimenting with just a hint of eyeliner felt like a perfect match for her outfit. Once that was taken care of Kayla slipped on her shoes and did a quick hair style getting hyped up to go out the door.
But her chest got tight and hands alittle shaky as she was nearly to the door. This was a date they had been thinking about and now that it's here all the anxiety she had subsided was flooding in. The low collar of the dress felt suffocating. The little hairs on her neck feeling like little bugs crawling on her skin making thier body jolt. "F-fuck now isn't the time for this..." she said to herself as she sat on her couch trying to calm down. Tears pricking her eyes as the panic grew and grew before a familiar ping caught her attention.

Julia: Kayla! I look forward to seeing you today! Meet me downtown at the park I have a surprise planned!
A small smile came to Kayla's lips seeing Julia had texted before taking a deep breath and shaking off their anxieties as best they could. "I can do this!" She said as she got up and nodded before heading out her door.
Once at the park Kayla made her way around looking for Julia before spotting her near the bridge over the pond. Her own dress matched Kayla's in style but was a lovely lavender color with a small amount of frill on the bottom. Kayla felt her cheeks get warm seeing how pretty Julia looked even from a distance she didn't realize she was staring until Julia noticed Kayla and waved happily for her to come over.
Kayla snapped out of her trance and made her way over gripping her bag strap tightly. No time to back out now. Once close enough Julia pulled her into a hug. "Kayla you made it!" She said happily as she held her for a moment before pulling away and looked at her in awe "you look so gorgeous " she said softly smiling sweetly. Once that came to Kayla's ears thier heart nearly burst out of her chest. "T-thanks Julia. You look really pretty too.." she said shyly trying thier best not to stutter in any way.
"Thank you Kayla that's sweet of you to day" Julia giggled as she grabbed her hand and began to lead them the surprise she had.
Under a large tree in the shade was a blanket with a basket on it and a bundle of wild flowers next to it. "I know this isn't much but I thought it would be fun to just enjoy the weather and have some time to relax. You've been working so hard lately Kayla " she said smiling with pink cheeks.
Kayla felt her heart beat faster "Julia this is so cute.. I haven't been on a picnic in a long time" they said as her and Julia moved to sit on the blanket. Julia moved to hand Kayla the flowers " I picked these for you. I grew a lot of wild flowers in my garden this year and they reminded me of you" she said happily. God this girl would be the death of Kayla.
Kayla gladly took them "t-thank you but I didn't get you anything.." she said frowning making Julia quickly shake her head "it's no problem Kayla your company is a gift all on its own " she said sincerely as she gave her a gentle loving look. "Now then lets have some fun!" Julia said happily.
As the date went on Julia had pulled out homemade sweets for the two shaped like little hearts and even made some chicken Alfredo for Kayla to take home later. The two laughed and ate together as the day went by. Loving gazes and even some small hand touches. It was very prevalent that Kayla and Julia cared deeply for eachother. And as the day went on the connection between the two grew and grew. But like all things sadly the day grew old and the stars came to greet the two.
The girls packed up and walked to the bridge together "I had such a lovely time Kayla. You are so fun to spend time with" Julia giggled as Kayla smiled "so are you I'm really glad we got to hang out today. And I can't wait to try your chicken Alfredo " they joked making Julia laugh "I hope you like it I tried hard to make it come out nicely" she smiled happily.
Then it was happening. That moment that always goes down in movies when the love interests have a moment. Kayla and Julia's eyes locked in a loving stare. The moon lighting the blushes on thier cheeks and the shy movements they both had. "W-would it be okay if I..kissed you?" Julia asked softly after a moment and Kayla nearly short circuited before she nodded yes slowly.
Julia moved to gently place her hands on Kayla's cheeks before moving in to gently press her lips agaisnt hers. Kayla's eyes quickly closed as the blood rushed to her face. Her hands moved to gently rest on Julia's shoulders not sure where else to put them as the two shared their first kiss. A moment Kayla thought wouldn't happen only due to her not having the courage to make any romantic advancements towards Julia out of fear they would be rejected. But none of that mattered now.
A moment passed that seemed as long as a life time before Julia pulled away "w-wow...that was..." Kayla stuttered out before Julia finished the sentence "magical?" Julia said just as flustered making Kayla laugh with a small nod "yeah that sounds right" Julia smiled before pulling Kayla in for a hug. Holding her tightly as Kayla returned the hug filled with joy but a looming feeling of insecurity tried to shove its way in from Julia hugging them so tight. But once the words left Julia's lips Kayla knew that Julia did truely love her for her. "In your arms I feel like I'm home. You make me feel so safe..and I'm so lucky to have you in my life"
That night was a night Kayla would never want to forget. And Julia would make sure Kayla knew every day that she was loved and appreciated.
