Sorry to start this off with a note. I'm trying this again and not sure how far I will continue this book. I have some great ideas for it but unfortunately without proper motivation I will sit and read or paint and get nothing accomplished. Please feel free to make corrections or comments as I really appreciate CREATIVE critisism. I will also apologize for any errors, I'm horrible about that too. LOL  lastly my chapters may be short just a heads up... Welp I'll shut up now :)

Sylvester’s POV:

Walking down the aisle for graduation decked out in my school colors black, blue and silver; I see Abby waiving at me from her seat on the stage. As I continue towards her I can’t help but think of the future and just how abruptly things were going to change.   I take my assigned seat next to her which figures as our last names are right next to each other in the alphabet.

"Hey there, fancy meeting you here." I joked

“Oh we are funny today” She greets with a cuckle and beautiful smile; speaking softly as to not interrupt the ceremony.  “Can you believe we never have to come back here again?”

“I’m super excited. I tell ya’ Mr. Lester has had it out for me since my first day of high school.”

“Oh he’s not that bad” she rolls her eyes, while laughing.

“You have no Idea; I swear that man is a direct descendant of Satan himself.”

She grins and my joke but shushes me, effectively shutting me up. I knew she just wanted to enjoy the ceremony.  We both knew it was one of the last events our whole class would be together. Which was kind of depressing, but we had our whole lives ahead of us.

I sat there for most of the ceremony watching her and getting lost in my thoughts. I began to consider what is soon to come for me and hopefully Abby.  She is beautiful with her big green eyes that in the right lighting look blue; and midnight hair that is so soft it’s a sin. Her skin so creamy and pale it makes a man burn to reach out and touch her.  She is small in size fully equipped with dangerous curves.  Although she is small she is not to be mistaken for weak. She is one of the sassiest and strongest women I know.

She has been my best friend for years, and until now the most constant thing in my life. However I haven’t found the courage to tell her that she isn’t just my friend. I had begun to have feelings of something more for her for a very long time.  She is one of the very few people I trusted with the truth of my family’s heritage and sorted past. I just pray when she learns about the part I’ve omitted that she will think the same of me.

My thoughts were interupted when I heard the principle Mr. Crandle’s voice bellow another name. “Abigail Willow.” That was her queue to approach the podium to receive her diploma. I watch her give me a quick grin then proceed down the aisle knowing I’m right behind her.  She gracefully takes the diploma and shakes of Mr. Crandle. Smiling the whole time for her family to snap photos of her, she goes through the motions and heads back to the seat near me.

“Sylvester Winter.” That’s my queue to go through the same process that Abby just did.  The only difference between our walk is my smile isn’t quite so big, and I in all honesty don’t care as much as she does about graduation. I could have an eternity of schooling if I really wanted to, or an eternity of whatever else I decide to try. I head down the aisle and grasped the diploma in my left hand and extend my right to shake hands with Mr. Crandle. We had practiced the receipt of our diplomas forever at the rehearsal, and I had it down to a science. Plus in all honesty it’s not a hard concept to get.

Mr. Crandle gives me a firm handshake and a tight grin as if saying “good you graduated; you’re not my problem anymore.” He releases my hand and allows me to take my diploma and head back to my seat as well.  But not of course before giving a brief smile and thumbs up to mom and dad for a photo; it meant a lot to them.

It seemed like the graduation ceremony or pictures wouldn’t end.  So I was very relieved when the crowd started to thin, and vehicles began to drive off.

Abby spotted me and ran up to me giving me a big hug. Letting go she hollered, “Sly we are free!” She then proceeded to throw her cap into the air for dramatic effect. I laughed at her and retrieved her hat from the ground.

“So my parents just gave their old mustang and I was thinking if you didn’t have any big plans we could go celebrate.” I said hopefully as I handed her back her cap.

“They gave you Glenda? No way!” she looked at me with disbelief she knew just how much my dad loved his old red ‘65 mustang.

“Way and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than to take a long drive. However If you agree to go the destination is a secret.” I said to her trying to be clever because she would never willingly agree to a formal date; or any other situation that could be misread for such.

“I’m down, I just have to let mom and dad know I’m going out so they don’t plan on me being home. Did you drive Glenda here or are you going to pick me up from my house?”

“She is at home dad just gave me the keys. I can ride home with my parents, grab Glenda; then to grab you.”

“That works, I’m going to get going so I can get around.” She said turning on her heels to head back to her parents.
“Hey Abby,” I hollered to stop her from going any further. “Dress warm tonight at least pants and a sweater.”

“Jeez Sly, are we cryptic enough today?”

I pinned her with a fake glare “Just go with it okay?”

“Okay okay” she conceded “pants and a sweater it is. Just honk when you get to the house we are going right home so all I have to do is change and wait for you."

"Will do, see you in a bit."

She waived goodbye and bounded off towards her parents. Oce she was a safe distance away  I expelled a deep breath and silently prayed to my lucky stars.  “Please let tonight go right.” I then ambled off to find my parents for the short trip home.
