Sydney was beautiful in the summertime. The sky was clear and blue, the waves crashed against the beach, and a gentle breeze blew through the streets.
But Carmen Sandiego couldn't enjoy the wonders of the city around her, not when it was the home of her dead best friend.
Carmen sighed, pulling her red hoodie's hood up and hugging her forearms to feel smaller.
It had been three years since she adopted the name Wolfe. Three years since she left her old life behind. Three years since she murdered Gray Calloway.
She had never even wanted to come to Australia in the first place, but upon finding out what had her daughter so down, Carlotta had insisted.
"Mija," the Argentinian beauty had said, tucking a strand of hair behind her daughters ear. "Go. You'll never know what you'll find."
Something about the twinkle in Carlotta's chocolate brown eyes in the moment changed something in Carmen. She was definitely her mother's daughter. They had the same reddish brown hair, the same full figure, and the same pouty lipped smile. The only feature they didn't share was eye color.
