"get out of the way idiot.", the chestnut haired boy said in a low, cold voice, pushing past goshiki on his way into the locker room. the forced caused him to almost fall over, stumbling over his own feet. goshiki looked up, letting a small frown form on his face before he followed behind him. he'd always been cold. always showing no emotion. sometimes it made goshiki wonder what he was really like, because surely this couldn't be all there was to him. and he wasn't the only person to think this. he was certainly mysterious, enough to make the entire team wonder.
shirabu didn't like anybody very much, goshiki especially. he couldn't stand him. worse than anyone he's ever met. goshiki got everything handed to him. shirabu's first year was difficult. it took months and months to finally get in with the "group" of the team; tendou, semi, and ushijima. but this was different with goshiki. as soon as he stepped through the doors of shiratorizawa he was taken in. invited to all the hang outs with the group. he didn't understand it. he didn't see anything special in goshiki and he didn't understand why they did. he hated it.

shirabu glanced over at goshiki in the locker room and rolled his eyes, talking to semi next to him. goshiki watched and could hear semi giggle a bit at this. the sparkle that always lit up goshiki's eyes dulled a bit, but he tried his best to ignore it. he knew shirabu hated him with everything he had. but he even with that, he still cared about him just as much as he cared about the rest of his teammates.
semi didn't hate him. semi generally liked goshiki. however he still would partake in making fun of him with shirabu and talking about him behind his back.
if ushijima had ever had known about any of it, he would surely be disappointed in the two. tendou had heard semi and shirabu mock goshiki several times, however he'd never in a million years join in. he adored goshiki.

goshiki flinched and jolted his head up as he felt a gentle hand on his shoulder. his big eyes met tendou's, who ruffled goshiki's hair a bit. "don't worry about them goshiki, they're stupid. cheer up". tendou smiled fondly, making his way to the exit before goshiki had time to speak. goshiki took this advice, remembering he was the future ace after all. he was ambitious, and worked for what he wanted. once again, the sparkle in his eyes was back.
the shadows of semi and shirabu passed infront of him as they walked towards the door chatting with eachother. semi looked back, waving goodbye to goshiki as him and shirabu left. goshiki didn't understand it. he didn't understand why semi would let his friend say those things about him. and do the things he does. goshiki finally picked up his things and made way towards the door. as he left, he locked the door behind him.
the sky was dark, and the stars were out. the walk home wasn't too far, and usually he ran the whole way. but today he wasn't really feeling it. he always took in the scenery around him as he skipped home. everything was just so pretty to him. the trees, the grass, the sky, everything.
he was admiring the sky when something hard hit the back of his head. he flinched and put his hand behind his head to feel it. he looked down to see a medium sized pebble that had obviously been thrown at his head. as he turned to look behind him, he was met with none other than shirabu.
most days, shirabu would just ignore him. and leave him out. but then other days he was just horrible. the things he'd say were vicious. and sometimes it was physical. nothing horrible, just small pushes and shoves. and now, throwing a pebble at his head.
goshiki was always someone who never knew when to quit. he never understood other people either. especially shirabu. he'd smile at him and try to talk to him and every chance he got. no matter how horrible shirabu was to him. goshiki usually took it as a joke. even when it never was.
"hello shirabu!" goshiki smiled at him. this was one of those times where goshiki knew deep down shirabu was deliberately being mean. but goshiki was already having a rough day altogether and was just trying to keep himself together. goshiki really genuinely thought that shirabu would change and get used to him. which is why he always tried to be close to him. he grew fond over the setter as soon as he joined. he almost looked up to him.
