Egg-theives and Enkelhausts

So there I was, middle of the night, knocking on the door of Kingis's house. Eventually, the door opened and I rushed in, turning around slamming it behind me. When I turned back to face her, I could tell she was just about to  yell at me.

'Dude, what the hell?'

'I'm sorry for taking you up on a promise!'

'Do you know what time it is?'

'Didn't get time to check when I was being chased by an enkelhaust. And you said...'

'I know what I said, I just,'

'You were gonna go back on your word?'

'I didn't think it would happen. I thought you were just being, y'know, how you get sometimes.'

'Wh-'

'I thought you were just being Scamp-y, I didn't think you'd try make an enkelhaust omelette with the mother still there.'

'And I thought you were supposed to be a fortune teller. Just give me the stuff and I'll leave. I'm sorry. And I wasn't making an omelette...'

'Then why did you steal an egg? Just thought it would be funny?'

'Please, I just need some of the powdery stuff that'll make the mother go away.'

'The picosset? Uh... I can't.'

'Why not?'

'I- I can't, there's an important Veriturae meeting thing tomorrow and I need the picosset for a spell and-'

'Oh, great. Can I at least stay here until it goes away?'

'I mean... sure, but you know what my parents think about you... you'll have to be gone before they wake up.'

'Are you kidding me? Guess I'll just go out there with the giant goddamn eagle dragon and hope I don't die!'

'Scamp, can you not be like this right now?'

'Oh, yeah, I'm sorry I came to you for help! Just, just can you let me out through your window cos I won't last long if I go back the way I came.'

'I said you could stay!'

'No, you said I could stay so long as I'd be gone before your parents wake up. Seems like you don't care what happens to me as soon as I leave. So just let me leave. Then you can forget about it.'

'That's not- that's not what I meant, I'm sorry, please...'

I moved past her, up the stairs. We didn't say anything else that night. I left by the window of her bedroom. Eventually, I managed to get the enkelhaust off my tail. I took the egg home, it was better I did it this way.
