Chapter 2: Couldn't Be Much More From the Heart

Start from the beginning

"Once you get the hang of it, you shouldn't need the dampener anymore. I think you two are long overdue for a conversation that isn't on post-it notes." He smirked. She rubbed her hands together, trying to get the cold smoke to go away before she picked up one of the devices and attached it to her forehead.

"Hey, stranger. We sure have a lot to talk about." The voice was rough, echoing, but it was hers - Frost.

"Hey." Caitlin's reply was small, breathless, relief flooding through her much like it had when Frost had broken through again earlier.

"I'm going to let you two have a moment, go find Jesse. Welcome back, Frost." Harry pressed a quick kiss to Caitlin's cheek, squeezing her shoulder before he left the room. The contact was brief, but it left a whisper of reassurance - a promise to return soon. She smiled, relieved her skin wasn't cold enough to hurt him this time.

"Well, well....it's about time you two disgusting lovebirds got together. At least I won't have to watch you two dance around each other anymore."

"I missed you too, Frost. I was so afraid I'd never get you back."

"Ugh, you're still so soft, Caity. Enough of that - when did you and Grumpy Wells hook up?"

"There's been no 'hooking up', he's been on Earth 3 with Jesse. They just came back, because, well..." She explained their dad's alter ego, why they think Frost had been suppressed for all those months, and the connection between herself and Harry, that they think dark matter drew them together.

"Geez, I did miss a lot. But that still doesn't explain why you're here talking to me now instead of making out with Grumpy Wells."

"I....I missed you. Harry thought the M.A.D. 2.0 could help us reconnect."

"Let me guess, you almost froze him to death."

"How did you-"

"I'm in your head, Caity. I can hear your thoughts."

"Oh. Right. Well, that's going to take some getting used to, especially if Harry and I continue to share feelings. And that's not nice, he's not always grumpy."

"At least not around you, anyway. He was quite elated by your company just now, I'd say. Ooh, you've always been a dirty, dirty girl under those pencil skirts, haven't you, Caity. I felt how high your temperature rose," Frost laughed even as Caitlin blushed in silence, both of them knowing what Caitlin was thinking about, "Not that I blame you, though I must admit if I had to pick a Wells for myself it would probably be Thawne. I mean, if I wasn't on the redemption road, or--not that I'd ever...Although, if there were ever a Wells like Indiana Jones I'd be on that in a second--anyways... We're all caught up for now, so why don't you go find your new boy toy."

"Are you sure? Because we just got you back...I could run some tests, like I started doing before."

"Gee, well as much fun as that sounds - not. I'm kinda exhausted from fighting dad's alter ego so..."

"Cisco's calling him Icicle." Caitlin shrugged.

"Real original. Either way, I need a nap. Go get laid, Caity. Maybe it'll loosen you up. You and Grumps are perfect for each other, seriously. We'll talk later."

"Frost?" Caitlin frowned when her other half didn't respond. Oh god, what if she lost touch with her again? Or worse, lost her for good?

"For crying out loud, Caity. I didn't go anywhere. We're gonna have to work on those separation anxiety issues of yours. Seriously, I'm like falling asleep here. Why am I so tired when I was unconscious for months? Ugh . . . Frost out, it's naptime. Whatever you do, don't wake me up until you're done doing the dirty with grumps. Some things just need to be kept behind the line, before it hits t.m.i.-land, seriously."
