Katy the Poor

Part 1

Katy is miserable these days, and so is Mama. People are no longer giving them money for singing songs. The first day Katy was singing and Mama was playing, everyone thought it was for entertainment. But boy, were they wrong. It was just so that Katy and Mama would get more money so that they could maybe rent an apartment. For a while, anyway. Now that everyone knows that they're poor, people think they're untrustworthy thieves, and people are beginning to regret giving them money. Plus, no one will hire them. Some people are just getting tired of the same old song every day. "Katy, we have GOT to think of something to sing." Mama said sadly. Katy hung her head. "But... what...?" She mumbled, "I dunno any songs!" Mom sighed, getting tired of living like this. "Why don't we make up one?" Katy suggested. Mama didn't like the idea because she didn't know what she was supposed to play on her guitar. "I can sing other songs... part of 'em, anyway....."  Katy muttered, "you don't have to use the guitar." Both Katy and Mama knew that it was a possibility that no one would give them money because they seemed like thieves, but it was worth a try. And so, Katy took a deep breath, practiced her song, then sang 'Me and my Broken Heart' by Rixton as loud as she could.

"All I need is a little love in my life... all I need is a little love in the dark... a little but I'm hoping it might kick start... me and my broken heart." Crowds began to form, and people were even dropping DOLLARS into the mug. Mama didn't wanna seem like a bad guy, so she thanked everyone politely, even the people who dropped only a penny into the cup and gave her and Katy the evil eye. Mama never realized Katy was such a good singer until now. When Katy was finally finished, she got a round of applause, and someone even threw a flower!! "Katy, dear, please sing another song to these wondeful people." Mama smiled, getting her hopes up about renting a cheap apartment that was only $49.99.

Katy started singing 'Maps' by Maroon 5, then 'Summer' by Calvin Harris, then she began singing 1 song after the other OVER and OVER and OVER again!

"I miss the taste of a sweeter life... I miss the conversation... I'm searching for a song tonight... I'm changing all of the stations."

"When I met ya in the summer... to my heartbeat sound... we fell in love... as the leaves turned brown."

Everyone loved Katy's singing. They clapped and snapped and whistled and threw flowers. Everyone cheered and hollored out a "Hooray!" Mama was so proud of Katy. It wouldn't be long now.
