Words Left Unspoken

Here she was again, laying in her porcelain bathtub. The water was extremely hot, but it didn't phase Jessica at all. In fact, she couldn't even feel it. Her mind was someplace else.

With the water filling the tub near to the edge, she turned it off and laid back down in the tub.

Silent in the house, but not outside, Jessica could hear the sounds of cars flying down the highway. It all sounded so distant to her, as if she was a million miles away.

She was in the tub, but she had no intention of using a bar of soap.

It hadn't been a bad day, actually, it was a great day. She had a blast acting out scenes with the cast... The problem was... She liked acting with one member of the cast too much.

She spread her legs open, placing her left hand on top of her thigh near her hip. She had held out as long as she could, she needed to do this. She had to get the thought of Danny out of her head.

Jessica looked down at the razorblade that sat on the edge of the tub next to her.

Part of her knew that she shouldn't be doing this, but it was so much easier to deal with this pain than to be rejected by him.

She took the razorblade in her hand and lightly grazed it against her skin. The cut bled a little, the blood mixed into the water.

She closed her eyes and watched the thought of Danny fade away as her body rushed with endorphins. She dropped the blade into the murky bathwater.

After a few minutes, Jessica felt better. She stood from the tub and wrapped her thigh with gauze.

She pulled the silver knob on the faucet to drain the tub, washing away the evidence of the crime she had just committed to her body.

She dried herself off with a towel, from her shoulders down to her feet and hung it on the rack on the wall. Standing in front of the sink, Jessica peered into the mirror at her reflection.

She combed through the back of her hair with her fingers to fix it and smiled into the mirror.

"Ugh." She shivered.

Giving her bathroom one last glance, she turned the lights off and went to bed.
