basic idea : Logan is an Immortal, one of the entities that look over humans, protecting them and, in his case, orchestrating the lives and deaths of them. The only downside to his role was not being able to make any exceptions. Every human has to die at a certain time. Under any circumstance should he not help one.
His very good friend, Roman, often goes into the world, searching for the same human soul and falling in love with them over and over again. It's an occupation Logan finds foolish, he's never understood love and how it puts you 'under a spell'. That is, until Roman manages to convince him to ask for a year in the human world, to see how it's like. Logan's whole world turns upside down when he meets Patton, a kindergarden teacher and suddenly he can't think properly and his heart beats faster whenever he's around.
But, when Patton gets into an accident and hurts himself, Logan realizes that he was meant to die all along. He can't let him... die. He just can't....
