Johnny: Yeah, I remember seeing the aftermath of the trap on the news. All those smashed mirrors, that guy's destined for bad luck for the rest of his life. After Mastermind I uploaded the video of Annalise Russo, some say that the first he kept all of the recordings of his traps.
Taeyong: I've heard that around too, I choose not to believe it.
Johnny: May I ask why? Just out of curiosity.
Taeyong: It's kind of depraved, don't you think?
Johnny: I... right, yeah. Sorry, I just got chills thinking to some of his other traps.
Taeyong: Exactly. Since then, Mastermind was active in random dates with random targets each time. In around 2012, Mastermind revealed his identity and stated that he would pass the mantle down to the second Mastermind, who died two years later in their own trap, the trap being so devastating that the body was entirely unrecognizable. Then came the third Mastermind, announced by Kim Yong-hwan, in 2017. And this third Mastermind remained active until the Vigilante Ban in 2019.
Mark: Man, and that's just scratching the surface of Mastermind. The newer one is just as creative, and in some ways maybe even more.
Taeyong: I'll give them points for creativity. The Water Trap, for one, was remarkable.
Mark: The trap that nearly killed Spades?
Taeyong: Yes. Although it would have been horrifically tragic to lose Spades after the loss of two Aces and another one becoming an [clears throat] actor. It would've been quite the shock.
Johnny: How did Spades get out of that anyway?
Taeyong: If memory serves me correctly, the Huntsman busted the lock to the room and pulled the door open, but it took multiple rounds. It was a timed lock, I believe, and the room was rigged to keep spilling water in at a rapid pace for about an hour.
Johnny: Spades would've been submerged in minutes.
Taeyong: Right.
Mark: That was the last time we saw them working together, right?
Taeyong: Right. It was in February of 2019. Who knows what happened that day, whether Mastermind really targeted Spades or if it was just bad luck, who knows?
Johnny: If I ever met Mastermind, I'd like to ask, and thus risk my life but, hey, at least I don't have to pay student loans in the after life.
Mark: Dude!
Johnny: And... drum roll please...
Mark: Nah. No way this is a sponsor.
Johnny: It is! This week's episode is sponsored by Explore Student Loans. Many college semesters start in a few months and you may need help to pay for school! Give a call to Explore Student Loans to discuss some options and if you click the link in our pinned thread you can enter to win their $10,000 scholarship. Mark: It's crazy how smoothly he fits these sponsors in.
Taeyong: Agreed, I'm surprised he got it in.
Johnny: Thank you, I'm an expert. But, with that said, any closing remarks on Mastermind?
Taeyong: I believe I've said my part, yes, haha. Not much more to say unless you want to dive into some more history.
