When I was ripped away from Ms. Jones, I was relieved, at the time. I mean, she was the worst third grade teacher ever. But that feeling was replaced by fear as I saw a large shard of glass lodge itself into her side, sending her flying across the room and against the wall, pining her there. She was dead within seconds.

I was scared laying on the floor, patting my body to make sure I had no major bruises. Other than a few scratches here and there, there were no broken bones. My white button down shirt with blue stripes was hanging on the hinge of the door. The door itself was lying a good fifteen feet away from the doorframe. That left me in my light blue shirt that had a rip on the stomach. The edges around the rip had started to go red from the skin it broke.

I spit out the blood forming in my mouth and stood up. I brushed myself off and started carefully toward my shirt hanging on the broken hinge. The window was shattered, making the shirt billow. I surveyed the damage to my left and noticed that a fire had sparked. It wasn't small; the flames were licking my ankles, but I was too much in shock to have noticed it before. The heavy door that John and I couldn't open was shrouded in thick flames. I was about to reach for my shirt- why I'm rescuing a shirt when I should be rescuing myself, I don't know-

-when the second plane hit. From the left, the door flew at me and, before I had time to register my shock, it pinned the left side of my body to the floor. The flames immediately engulfed the part of me that was actually touching the door. I felt my flesh burning away and I tried to scream, but I knew my pleas for help were in vain. No one could hear me and I had no idea that one of the most memorable moments in history was happening now.

I'll spare the gruesome details for you, unless you actually want to know what happened. Long story short, I lost an eye in a short amount of time. A few minutes. My left arm disintegrated in about ten, but my left leg was a little harder to take down. Sooner or later, I'm not really sure, I was in too much pain to process anything, my bone gave up the fight and fire won it over, snapping it in half. With my leg in two, the fire attacked it like hungry beasts ravaging for a crumb of food. No flesh was left.

Before I passed out, I felt the burning door being lifted off of my body and someone picking me up, careful not to touch the injured parts of my body. But, being in the position I'm in, I may as well been hallucinating.
