Over the sound of the pouring rain outside an alarm on your phone arouses you from your book. It was sitting on the coffee table; GO TO WORK PARTY, it says in all capitals. It served as a dreadful reminder that a world exists outside of the roughed-up copy of War and Peace that you will never give back to the library. All wasn't so bad however as it was your favorite holiday, Halloween. And the memory of your boss telling you that anybody who attended the party would earn a small raise if they stayed for the full thing. "Damn it Jerry." You said to yourself, as you cursed your insufferable boss. "Could you stop fucking bribing us to like our jobs?" Not that your job was actually that bad, you just fucking hated that guy.

For the better part of the year, you had been a local Cryptid of sorts. The papers across the county (NOT COUNTRY) would always report sightings of a mysterious individual seen around town at night. The person in question (YOU) wore a maroon cloak with golden patterns at the edges (The edges of the bottom and hood), with an accompanying wooden mask carved with eyes wide and it's lips slightly parted. It's face almost appeared as if lost in thought. The rest of the outfit contained black shoes and black gloves. The whole outfit was perfect at concealing one's identity. It even contained tinted lenses on the eyes of the mask as to not even be recognized through eye color. The entire town was captivated by the mystery of who it could be. Wild theories emerged about demons, angels, and omens, but not a soul considered the idea that it was the local radio technician.

It was pouring down rain, hard. Just as you took note of this, a voice on the radio began to issue a weather warning about torrential rain and a 90% chance of thunderstorms as well. Damn, it's only 3PM. You pulled your small car into the joint-parking lot (The news building and the radio station are two separate buildings connected by a parking lot) and you assumed your whole-ass secret identity. You then, had an idea. A great fucking idea. The actual radio station was quite small, all things considered. It was also considerably older than the news building, and also considered by those bastards to be allegedly haunted as well. The building's size was also somewhat of a problem, as whatever equipment that couldn't fit on the inside was put outside. This small problem created an (Electrically enforced) fenced off area behind the station that held all sorts of very important machinery. This included the breaker box, a generator, and the actual radio tower (The radio tower has it's own section of the fenced off area). All this information was incredibly important. That is because your plan largely took place inside of the area that was just mentioned.

The gate was locked, but you had the key. You fiddled around with the keys and decided to just take your gloves off for extra grip. You shoved your gloves into a hidden pocked and just as you were opening the gate to the back of the station, a loud CRACK of lightning sounded a little bit too close for your comfort. You grabbed onto the gate, only to remember now, that the fence was still active. The shock caused you to lose your balance and slip and slide in the mud, but your stupid ass just had to confuse the same pole and slightly open gate that electrocuted you as something that could be used to get your bearings. You didn't even notice the bright flash of lightning strike that damn pole, as a torrent of electricity rushed through your entire body. This shit hurt, and yo u screamed profanities. But then, something changed. A different kind of power surged through your veins. It was almost otherworldly. You then feel your consciousness begin to slip. Maybe this is where you die, maybe you'll wake up in the hospital. Actually though, you'd rather die than face that medical bill. Your vision fades to black.

On the inside of the radio station, people were beginning to get nervous. The situation was also not being helped by the fact that they were in the middle of a raging thunderstorm at 3 PM, on Halloween of all fucking days. But the biggest not-helping factor was that everybody could have sworn they heard the muffled words "OW FUCK" in the moments following the power outage.
Now Jerry, not wanting to let the situation get out of hand, volunteered to turn the power back on. Just as he stepped outside, he noticed three strange things. The first thing that he noticed was the tech-guy's car, was parked in the parking lot. The second thing he noticed in that instant was that muddy boot prints led up to the ajar fence, with the key ring still in the lock. And the third, most interesting thing that he noticed, was the burned ground just in front of the gate, typically where somebody would stand if they were trying to hastily get in. But nobody was there. It was as if whoever was standing really close to the entrance simply...

Vanished.

I will try to have my chapters by longer, and have more dialogue. And don't worry. Y/n will meet some interesting characters very soon.

Signed,
Your terrible author.
