first met Usnavi De La Vega when they were fifteen in their sophomore year of High School. Sloane was a transfer from
home school. After convincing both her
parents enough to allow her to attend a
public High School. Instead of an strict
and more private like they have initially wanted her to attend. On the first day of school. Usnavi was smitten by Sloane's beauty but her intelligence as well and
the unique way she saw the world. And that's when he knew he want to see the whole world through her eyes as well.

eventually reciprocated those feelings
too. And before they were known as the barrios "It" couple. They had used to be
known as the "Forbidden" couple. With, Sloane coming from a wealthy family in Tribeca and Usnavi coming from a lower class family in the hood of Washington Heights. Their shared High School used to be their meet cute but outside of their school, they receive the tons of doubtful stares of neighbors who would claim the two would not last together due to their different societies.

parents were not even excluded from
the feeling of doubtfulness. Her parents
claimed he'll be the downfall of her life.
But the couple never listened to them. And when Sloane was eighteen, she did life changing choices. Sloane reluctantly
put her dreams of being an professional dancer and go to Juilliard on pause. She wanted to only please her parents, who believe that being a professional dancer isn't a realistic career.

➶ SLOANE RENEE FIGUERO -
became a registering nurse like how her two medical parents wanted her to be. With this, Sloane begins to realize that being a nurse isn't what she want to be
in life but has no choice but continue to be one. Due to this Sloane and her two parents grown a estranged relationship.
And, Sloane had temporarily move into
the barrios of Washington Heights into live with her loving boyfriend, Usnavi, and Abuela Claudia. Of course, This
was to the dismay of her disapproving parents.

➶ SLOANE RENEE FIGUERO -
once temporary stay in the barrios turn into a permanent stay. As she grew more and more in love with that vibrancy and the familial feeling of the neighborhood. Of course, she also grew more and more in love with Usnavi, her lovable, quirky and adorable boyfriend who is also the barrios renowned bodega store owner. Which is why she's so far been living in the barrios for six years now. And also became known for being a nurse at the
neighborhood clinic.

BUT TROUBLE STIRS UP -
for the couple when Usnavi's dream
to go back to the Dominican Republic
becomes even more realistic and so does Sloane's dream to own her dance studio in barrios to help the neighborhood kids stay out of trouble. This then becomes another meaning of the calm before the storm for Sloane and Usnavi.
