Eyes
"Why didn't you tell me?"
I felt my tears fell endlessly for the first time in the whole month I've been suffering. I don't care if someone will hear or see me crying, I just want to let my pain out.
Maybe I kept it for a long time that's why I now feel this way?
My heart is about to burst as it hurts so much.
Why? Why... the only question I want to ask.
"Happy eighteenth birthday Ri!" I was so surprised by the sudden pop of poppers when I entered our dining area.
"Omygosh! Why did you prepare so much?" natatawa kong sinabi nang makita ang sandamakmak na pagkain sa lamesa.
"Ri! It's your debut, we won't let it passed by without preparing something." yakap sa akin ni Mommy.
"We know you don't want a grand party so why not a simple celebration for our family?" natatawa pa rin ako kay Dad sa suot suot niyang party hat.
"Or why don't you invite your close friends?" si Ate na hinalikan ako sa pisngi.
"I'm okay to celebrate my debut with you all. I'm satisfied with this set-up, okay?"
We talked for about an hour while eating the foods they prepared. It was a peaceful day for me. And probably the kind of day I love.
My birthday is in summer vacation so I don't have something to do the other day. I don't mind it at all 'cause we already planned a vacation for next week.
You should've felt having a hangover" ate Lou chuckled as she sits beside me in our poolside.
I am drinking my coffee to start my day. "Hindi mo ako katulad ano. You always go home drunk."
"Anong always ka dyan. Well, we always have company dinner. I don't want to be on the bad side of my boss." hindi siya makatingin sa mga mata ko.
"It's alright ate. I understand that you're heartbroken again." panunuya ko sa kanya.
She scoffed. "Riesse Taela, wag mo akong niloloko ha. You still don't know how it feels to be heartbroken."
"So, inaamin mo nga na heartbroken ka?" I laughed so hard.
"Whatever.
"Alam mo, I can see you being an old maiden." may pagtango tango pa siyang nalalaman.
"Atleast I'm not 'always' heartbroken like you." she then rolled her eyes.
"Hindi nga, bakit ba hindi ka nagboboyfriend? Seryoso ako ha. I don't want you to be all alone as you grow old." mataman niya akong tiningnan.
"Ate, I'm still young. There's still a lot of time ahead of me to be in a relationship.
"I know that, I just think you're not interested in committing to be in a relationship." tumayo siya. "Atsaka, bawasan mo naman ang katarayan mo! Kaya walang gustong lumapit sayo eh."
"I want a peaceful life you know.
"I just wish you'd find a nice guy that will make your heart soft." inakbayan pa ako papasok ng bahay.
"Girls! There you are.
Ate said she found a good spot to relax. I hope so.
"Mom, where's my sunglasses? Yung hiniram mo last time!" sigaw ni ate na rinig ko hanggang kwarto ko.
Napailing nalang ako, aawra na naman ito.
Hinila ko na ang bagahe ko pababa. "Ri!
"Hay nako, I did not brought it.
"Oh! It's okay, I brought an extra." she smirked at herself.
"Dad, here's my luggage." tinabi ko kay Dad ang akin para maipasok na niya sa sasakyan.
"I'm so excited!" si ate nang sa wakas pumasok na sa sasakyan.
Mahaba ang biyahe but I enjoyed it because of the scenery outside my window. I love nature, it makes my tiredness go away and makes my heart full.
After that long journey, finally, we got off our car. "Ate, what's this resort called again?"
"Giardo's." Ate said while yawning.
It feels somewhat familiar. I think I heard it somewhere but I don't exactly remember where.
"Mommy!
We all laughed when we saw her look.
Ate was the one who talked to the staff since she booked the reservation.
"By the way, where's the owner of this resort? Please tell him that we have arrived." narinig kong sinabi ni ate sa isang staff.
They gave our villa number and key, so we went there to put our luggage.
"He's my friend and we're classmates in college. Actually, you know him too." nagtaka ako, marami siyang kaibigan at lahat sila kilala ko.
We're going to stay here for 1 month I think.
"Lumabas eh, maybe to look around?"
I took my phone out to capture the view from our villa.
Out of my curiosity, I started walking to the end of the hallway to see whose voice I heard.
I was at the end of the hallway when suddenly someone was about to enter.
Those eyes...I still vividly remember them.
