Religious beliefs and cultural beliefs are both interchanged conventionally at convenient opportunities.
Some religions mention being attracted to the same gender or transitioning as a sin. I wish to not further go down the reasons and suggest you to do your own research on this topic.
But religion and culture are not the same, which is a topic that can be debated among yourselves in the comments section.
And here is one thing.No matter what religious belief you follow, no matter what your cultural background is...religion or culture is not an excuse to discriminate/debate over someone's existence/identity which they did not get to choose from.
No...just because a certain verse in your religious/cultural belief says its not a good thing, does not mean that you can just go attack them with slurs or violently try to erase people similar like them.
