unintended

chapter 1

a/n: i've been writing on and off for a bit and wanted to take a stab at a series so any feedback is appreciated !

Your parents car had just driven off as you plop onto your dorm bed. Yale was way bigger than you could fathom, your roommate was due in any minute and you collected yourself before that, with the door being wide open you saw a few people walking in and out of the hall until a blonde girl entered your room,

"hey i saw the door open and wanted to pop in and say hi, my roommates not due till tonight" she explains and you can tell she's nervous,

"my roommates coming in later too, i'm y/n" you introduce and the girl holds her hand out,

"penelope nice to meet you, all the people here seem so intimidating" she says and you nod,

"i know its all such a big change" you agree and invite her in. You two chat until an hour when your roommate walks in with a couple boxes. You both stand up to help her and she thanks you,

"hi i'm Jennifer, but most people call me JJ" she says, college was a time to reinvent and she decided on the ride here that she would never be called Jenny again,

"nice to meet you i'm y/n and this is Penelope, she lives down the hall" you say and Penelope smiles,

"you two are cuties" she says and JJ smiles,

"i like you guys" she said and began to unpack, the conversation flows freely and you feel as content as you can be,

"have you seen the hunk who lives across from me?" Penelope asks and you shake your head,

"he's delicious i just want to eat him up" you and JJ laugh at that and Penelope shrugs unbothered,

"we have plenty of time to branch out, i say we grab some dinner first" JJ suggests and you both nod heading out on your first quest to find the dining hall.

After almost two hours to find the dining hall and figure out everything you arrive back to your hall,

"oh it looks my roommates here!" Penelope says seeing an older woman standing by the doorway,

"yes mother i won't let my grades slip i think i've proven that by now" you hear a voice say coming from inside the room,

"alright well i'm off, no funny business i'm serious Emily" the woman says and leaves the building. Once the door closes behind her Penelope decides to make her move,

"hi you must be Emily i'm Penelope your roommate" she introduces and Emily turns around and smiles,

"hi i love what you did with the room, and i'm normally not a fan of all this color but you've pulled it off" Emily says and Penelope smiles,

"thank you ! i'll let you get situated i'll just be down the hall you should meet my new friends they're really nice" she says and Emily nods,

"i'll come check it out." she says and Penelope is back in your room as you and JJ chat about the room,

"Hottie alert" Penelope says and JJ laughs,

"you've said that about over the half the people we've met" she teased and Penelope rolled her eyes,

"it's true it's what i would say about you if i had anyone to tell about" she joked and you all laughed,

"she's dark and mysterious, i wish she wasn't my roommate so i could pounce her" Penelope admits and you laugh again as Emily enters the room,

"hey, i'm Emily Prentiss, Penelope's roommate" she introduced.
