As I watch the spaceships leave, I think about how many people got on. Sure it seemed big up close, but when the lists were called, many people were left behind and even more people were torn away from family. My daughters stayed together, but her husband was taken to a different ship than her. I wonder what her infant daughter's life will be like. Already the ships are leaving my vision. So many of us crowd around what used to be television stations, and homes. We all want to know what happened. Suddenly we see a boom, and all of us are screaming. I however am rooted to the spot, begging for them to let us know what spaceship it was that exploded, and praying that it wasn't my daughter's. The voice over comes on telling us that it was Shuttle number 5. I sigh in relief. My daughters are safe. The world around us shudders. Some bottles fall to the ground. I will enjoy the rest of my life on this planet.
