To every beginning there must come an end; at least, that's the case for most people. The pace of life felt slow with each day growing duller than the next. It was as if I could physically see the once vibrant colors draining from the world. Then again, didn't I want this? If I didn't I wouldn't have spilled the blood of so many people to gain this power--or rather--a curse.

A light sigh left my nose as I trekked along the same streets of Tokyo, the lights of the lively city gaining more attraction than the small chat that came from the usual teens and young adults. I dug my hands deeper into my jacket pockets. A chill running down my spine as the wind roughly pushed up against my body causing me to instinctively pull my knees slightly closer to each other as my body slightly paused.
"Winter's approaching..." I whispered, drawing my eyes towards the black sky. The bright lights of the city masking the usual starry sky which haven't been present in Tokyo for almost a decade. A warm chuckle ran dry through my lips--the cold causing them to become slightly chapped as I reminisced of the past.
I remember when there was no more than a few larger buildings, the streets crowded, horses and carriages moving harmoniously with the people as faint music was heard over the crowd of people chatting and yelling the same phrases everyday as they stood over their humble shops.
That ancient seeming terrain was unrecognizable now in contrast to the sleek and futuristic look of the buildings and roads.
Just how long was that ago...200--maybe around 400 years ago?
Picking up my feet, I began moving again, this time turning around and heading back towards my apartment becoming sick of the cold that was approaching.

As I shut the door to my apartment, I reached over towards the light switch, however, stopped midway as a heavy feeling spread throughout through my chest before it shifted towards my arms--causing me to pause.
I didn't want to see it.
Drawing my hands away from the light switch I began slowly making my way through my pit-black apartment, using my arm as a guide to make sure I was heading straight towards my room--although, at this point, I don't even think I needed it.
As I reached my room I sluggishly dragged myself to my bed, waiting until I was fully engulfed in the sheets before deciding to choose whether I should change out of my clothes and take care of my nightly routine or just head to bed and do it tomorrow. I laid in my bed, scrunching the blanket between my legs and arms as I let the thought linger in my mind. However in reality, I didn't really pay attention to it as my thoughts traveled elsewhere for a few moments before I snapped out of it.
Groaning, I turned, letting go of my grip of the wrinkled blanket as I blindly reached over my bed until my fingertips grazed the cold wood of my nightstand in search for a coin. As I ran my hand over the counter, I could hear the sounds of a few coins dropping, causing my lip to perk up in annoyance as I hoped I hadn't knocked over all of them.
Eventually, I slipped my finger under one of them, sliding it towards the edge before bringing it towards me as I sat up on my bed and placing one of my pillows on my lap.
Sometimes, an endless life gets boring--so I think it would be better to have some fun--let life bring about the worst or maybe the best. A coin flip--often used as a method of choice that is supposed to have a yes or no answer--to me, it was something that I began using to let fate or destiny lead without allowing me to have much control over where or what I do. Although the choice which I was betting on now as small, I placed the coin on my thumb before flicking it up into the air and swiftly catching it--smacking it onto the backside of my other hand.
