Ushijima was now sitting in the hospital room waiting for the doctor to come back and tell him the diagnosis. His leg bounced up and down without a warning as he eagerly awaited the doctor's arrival. Suddenly the door shot open with the doctor and his nurse.
"Good news! Nothing big is wrong with your shoulder! You just have to get a minor surgery for it." The doctor smiled as he held the clipboard under his arm pit as he sat down in his wheelie chair and turned to his computer. Ushijima looked at his mother with worry. His mother giving him a soft smile as she turned back to the doctor to schedule a surgery date.
"Should we really do this? What about my career?" Ushijima tugged at his mother's shirt sleeve and looked down at her, since she was smaller in height compared to him.
"Honey, it's gonna help you with it, giving more motion in your arm and helping you feel better." She patted his hand that was on her sleeve and took his hands into hers and smiled. He felt at ease when she said that. "I can still play volleyball then." He thought to himself as a tiny smile appeared on his face when driving back home.
Weeks later
Today was the day. The day Ushijima got admitted for his shoulder surgery. Sure he was nervous but this couldn't possibly ruin his career in any way. He arrived at the hospital, checking in and settling in his room that he will be staying in for a while. It was summer so he did not have a lot of things going on. His mother left him there at the hospital to go run errands. He was then left there, bored, bored as hell. He got up and called the nurse,
"Hello!" the nurses lively tone rang through the phone,
"Um, hello, I was wondering if I was able to explore a bit by myself, my surgery is tomorrow evening." He questioned the nurse, hopefully he was able to explore a bit.
"Yes yes, of course! Just be back before 8:30 for your vitals." He felt the nurse's smile shine through the phone.
"Thank you..." He hung up the phone speaking in his monotone voice, it was always like this, but no one seemed to care. Until he came along....
Ushijima was just wandering around the hospital, he saw the cafeteria, the waiting room, the ER, the chief of the hospital's office, almost everywhere. When he circled back around he noticed someone chatting with the head nurse on their floor. His laughter echoed through the room. The boy looked about his age, but having red hair that covered his red eyes, they still showed tremendous amounts of light in them. He was slim, holding his IV with him leaning against the counter. The bags under his eyes showed a little bit but they were that noticeable, except when it came to Ushijima. He stared at the boy that looked so fragile to the touch. The laughter died down as the red headed boy looked over into Ushijima's brown eyes. The other boy apologized and waved goodbye, walking somewhat slowly pacing to Ushijima who stood there in a daze as soon as he saw him.
"Hello, Peering-kun~." The boy leaned on his IV and smiled, rocking back and forth.
"I'm sorry?" Ushijima questioned a bit as the other continued to rock on his IV.
"Peering-kun? Oh! It's your new nickname because you were staring at me all this time." He continued to lean on his IV, smiling at Ushijima who was slightly taller than the guy in front of him.
"It's Ushijima Wakatoshi." He spoke in his monotone voice and held his hand out to the slim figure in front of him.
"Alright, Wakatoshi-kun~" His voice rang in his ears. The way he said "Wakatoshi-kun" rang in his ear.... He somewhat enjoyed this boy's presence.
"Gimme your phone." The red haired boy straightened up and held his hand out, smiling. Without hesitation Ushijima gave him his phone and opened it. The boy did some things with Ushijima's phone, he wasn't quite sure but he didn't peek over to be nosy. The other male later took out his phone and sent a message to Ushijima's phone, giving it back.
"You seem like a cool guy, see you around Wakatoshi-kun~!" The red haired male then turned around waving his hand, keeping the other on his IV. Ushijima looked at his phone and back at the other male who disappeared. Ushijima then returned to his room and pondered to himself... "Satori Tendou..."
Authors Note!!: I will explain later on why Tendou questions why Ushijima's voice is so monotone!! WAIT TILL THE NEXT ONE THIS IS GONNA BE A WILD RIDE!
