8 year old Y/n's point of view

Running through the forest to escape the bullies. I ran and ran. Until..."AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH" i fell into a this weird place covered in crystals. A cave? No looks more like...a cove...The crystal cove! "Hello?" A voice said "who are you" asked the voice. I looked around and said "I-Im y/n, who are you" and from behind a crystal came a beautiful girl.

"I-I-I'm Aerwyna...nice to meet you. Why are you here?" I explained to her that i was running away from the bullies that where picking on me because my right wing is smaller than my left wing Wich means i can't fly. "Oh...I'm so sorry. I'm here to clear my mind. I'm supposed to go through anthromorphasis in a few years so they're trying to prepare me for that" we both sighed "hey, would you like to be friends?" She asked me. Ofcourse I said yes.

Every day we would meet up at the cove and get to know eachother better. I learned that anthromorphasis is a stage in every under water creature's life where they form this hard protective layer like a shell kind of like they hibernate for 5 months to 8 years. That's a long time.

We played hide and seek in between the crystals, when we didn't want to go home we had sleepovers in the cove, we told eachother our hopes and dreams aswell as our secrets. We where the best of friends.

"It's my 9th birthday! I have to tell Aerie!" By the cove i saw Aerie sitting there staring at the water. "AERIE ITS MY BIRTHDAY" I told her. "Congratulations...Y/N! YOUR WINGS!LOOK!" I looked at my wing and they where...

They where bigger...And the same size.. I can finally learn to fly! I started flapping my wings. I was hovering above the ground. THIS IS THE BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!

Over time Aerie helped me get used to my wings. Now I can soar through the sky!! And No one will ever pick on me ever again! THIS IS AMAZING!!!

Aerwyna's POV

"Thanks bestie for helping me fly!" Y/n said... Why does it hurt me so much to hear those words? Am i not supposed to be happy..? "No problem. That's what best friends are for? Right." It hurts me so much to say those words..Why?...why must it be like this..why does it hurt me so much?.. I hate it!

After a while i had to go back home To prepare myself for anthromorphasis. I didn't want to go home... So i asked Y/n if we could stay at the cove for the night. "Yes ofcourse, We could have a sleepover!! Yaaas." Her excitement, her happiness meant everything to me.

-Time skip-

It's morning already? Well i guess i have to go home now. I woke y/n up so i could tell her that we have to go to our homelands. "Noo...Let me sleep..." As stubborn as always y/n never wakes up easily as expected.

As usual i have to take her back to her people...*sigh* I picked her up and put her down where the gaurds could see her. I left a note in her pocket and went home..

When I got home my mother immediately scolded me. Saying "Aerwyna where were you! We where looking everywhere for you! Your anthromorphasis is Tommorow and you have to get ready. If the crymorsios doesn't form properly you'll end up like your aunt Freya. She had to change her name out of embarrassment and shame! And if yours doesn't go perfectly either! You'll have to be banished from the wetlands. You are not any other wetland creature Aerwyna! You are royalty You Will have to rule over the oceans and your older sister will be ruling over the bogs and swamps! People have expectations for us so we have to keep everything perfect! UNDERSTAND!?" I nodded and swam to my room to cry.

It's time for my anthromorphasis... I didn't even get to say goodbye to Y/n. I don't know how long I'll be asleep... I'm sorry y/n.. I'll see you in a few years...
