My heart began to pound from excitement, this is it. Finally the moment I've been waiting for, now all I have to do is listen. I leaned close as Red began to chew on a biscuit, placing the tray right next to her arm so she could easily reach it. Christie glared at her but didn't bother to scold her.
"So what about the legend?" I could hardly wait now, patience was never one of my stronger points.
"Wait" Red held out a hand and knelt on the bed, reaching for the light switch.
Great, exactly what kind of game is this? She just asked me to do one thing I can't seem to do anymore. Wait. Impatient, I drummed my fingers on my thigh then stiffened when the lights turned off and the curtains automatically blocked any trace of light.
Red picked up a flashlight and turned it on just under her chin so the light illuminated her features, she looked like one of those students in a sleep over, the one whose about to tell a horror story.
"Once upon a time, long, long ago" Red said in a witch-like voice, I shivered involuntarily.
Before she could continue, the light switched back on and I saw Christie grab the flash light from Red and turn it off, Christie shot Red a dissaproving glance and Red stuck her tongue out at Christie.
I breathed a sigh of relief. Gosh, that scared the life out of me, thank God I live to see another day. On second thought, I change my mind, I don't think Red's that refreshing anymore.
"Sorry 'bout that" Christie said apologetically. "It's just that, my goblin of a sister seems to have lost her path in life and therefore has lost her mind as well" Christie smiled at me, as if Red wasn't just beside her.
Red just rolled her eyes and plopped back down on the bed and lay face up and nibbled on a biscuit.
"It's okay" I murmured, not being able to blame Christie for having Red as a sister... a twin sister.
"You must be so curious about the legend, but first before that" she reached out beside her on the bedside table and presented me with a cup full of hot steaming brownish liquid. "Tea?" she asked, polite as ever.
I shook my head. "No thank you" I really can't help but also feel irritated at Christie and had to bite back to prevent from saying 'Just get on with it!'
"Sorry, I'm wasting your time" Christie said, placing the cup and saucer back to where she got them from.
"No, not in the lea-"
"Yeah, she's definitely wasting your time, let me tell the story instead" Red rolled so she lay on her belly, facing me, a half-eaten biscuit on her hand.
"At least, I have the decency to ask her if she wants tea" Christie's chin inched higher.
I sighed. Tell me, when will they stop fighting?
"She's not interested in the tea anymore, Barbie but Fire Girl here's waiting for the story so she could boot out of this house, forget about us then go back to school!" Red said, facing Christie.
"Sam won't forget about us! She'll come visit us for sure"
"No, she won't!"
"Yes, she will!"
"Stop!" they both looked at me now, shocked. Then Christie's face looked deeply apologetic while Red looked somehow amused.
