To my surprise, Steven shifted gears and killed the engine before he got out and walked over to the gate. Unlocking it, he pushed it open before he walked back over to the truck but he didn't get in.

"Think you can handle the truck?"

"W-why?"

"We don't have much space so we're going to have to push your car into the garage first."

I bit my lip as I looked at the gearshift and the steering wheel. It looked easy enough when he drove it but I'd never really driven such a big car before. What if I damaged it?

"I know you can handle the truck," he said softly, drawing me out of my thoughts. "Just ease her into the gears, she's a bit old."

He was gone before I could utter a word. I watched him through the back window as he unhooked the chain from both the car and then the truck. Dropping it onto the bed of the truck, he walked to the back of my car.

It was kind of funny to watch them.

Thomas yelled orders from where he sat behind the steering wheel as Steven pushed the car into the yard.

I pushed my bag aside and slid across the seat behind the steering wheel. Gripping the keys, I turned it in the ignition and jumped when the truck roared to life. It was a lot louder than my car and not an automatic.

Swallowing, I placed my hand on the gearshift and tried to remember which way I needed to move it, but my mind came up blank. I moved the gearshift to the left and then back before I slowly pressed my foot down on the gas.

After a few seconds, I relaxed as the truck started moving. It was easier than I expected to drive the truck into the yard and park it behind my car.

The twins were standing behind it, leaning back with their arms crossed over their chest and waiting for me.

I couldn't wipe the smile from my face as I got out of the truck. Thomas raised an eyebrow in question.

"From that look on your face, I take it that you like your short drive in my truck?" Steven asked.

"Your truck?" Thomas straightened and turned to glare at his brother. "It's our truck, not yours."

Steven's eyes narrowed. "We've been over this like a million times before, Thomas."

Before he could open his mouth again, one of their phones started ringing. Thomas pulled his phone from his pocket and stared at the screen for a few seconds before he sighed and picked it up. I watched as he walked away with his phone pressed to his ear and his free hand curled into a fist.

Steven cleared his throat, snapping my attention back to him. He slowly straightened and turned slightly to nod at my car.

"Anything you need to take out?"

I shook my head. "Nope. I have everything I need in my bag."

"Good. It's getting late, let me drop you at home."

My mouth dropped open. He wanted to drive me home but I thought that we were supposed to go out to dinner with them as payment. Had they changed their minds?

"What about dinner?" I blurted out.

Steven chuckled. "We will go to dinner, just not tonight."

"Why?"

He pressed his hand to the small of my back and led me around the truck where he opened the door for me. Only then did he answer my question.

"Thomas just got called into work again and you look really tired."

I turned and tilted my head back to look up at him. My eyes darted over his face as I waited for him to tell me that he was only joking, but he didn't. Steven just silently continued to stare down at me.

"You're not going to fix my car anyway and demand I pay you for the work you've done, are you?" I asked softly.

He pursed his lips. "You have trust issues, Albany?"

I shook my head and looked away from him.

"Do you want to go on a date with us?" he asked softly after a few minutes.

"You said I have to in order—"

"I said that you don't have to. We'd still fix your car for you either way."

I moved back when he stepped forward.

"Now, answer the question. Do you want to go on a date with us?"

There was no hesitation to the answer to the question, but I pretended to think about it. Truth was that I wanted to get to know them a little better. They seemed like two guys who would make great friends.

Unlike Severide. . .I frowned. Why was I thinking about him? Giving my head a shake, I looked up at Steven again.

"Yes, I'd like to go on a date with you."
