"SICHENG!"
The boy in question nearly smashed his head into the wall, startled at the sound of his name echoing across the halls. His insides curled as his head registered the voice's name, knowing fully well what was to happen to him in the next few minutes.
His thoughts have been on a move since the moment he stepped foot onto campus that day. From then on, it felt like he was being thrown around like a ragged doll with all the assignments and lectures being shoved his way. He forgot the last time he was able to catch his breath before he was drowned in school works once again.
"What do you want, Hyeri?" he grumbled, shifting the stationary in his arms before shoving them into his locker with the girl opening it up for him because of all the things he was carrying, a sickeningly sweet grin gracing her lips.
"Nothing, I just wanted to know if you ate well?" she asked, her eyes wide and round as though she would still be immersed with any answer he'd give her.
He shook his head. He hadn't eaten a proper breakfast yet, his "meal" consisting of only a ginseng pack and some crackers. This made her smile falter, her brows furrowing with worry.
"Hey!" she lightly punched his arm. "That's not right! You need to eat well, three meals a day everyday! We can't let you get sick."
He sighed, her worried tone getting on his nerves. Sicheng wasn't sure why, but the constant bugging of his longtime friend (he wasn't even sure what to call her as their relationship was always left undefined) made the blood running through his veins bubble with irritation.
He didn't hate her. He just wanted her to leave him alone from time to time.
"And why do you care so much if I get sick?" he shot back, pulling out a notebook that he needed for his next class before slamming the locker shut, removing the barrier in between their faces in order for him to lock gazes with the girl. He crossed his arms over his chest, anticipating an explanation.
"Because you deserve to give yourself a good meal at least," she protested, stomping her feet to amplify her point. "If you get sick and miss classes then I'd miss you."
Hyeri didn't give him a chance to respond before grabbing his wrist and yanking him through the sea of students.
"What are you doing?" he screeched, trying to release himself from the grip that she had on him.
"The cafeteria! And don't you try to bail on me, it's my treat. I'm going to make sure you eat something no matter what."
"God, you're so annoying," he muttered, making it loud enough for the girl to hear him. This caused her to whip her head around, showcasing the glint of joy in her eyes and the flirtatious curl of her tongue as she prepared to open her mouth.
"Well, you know what they say. The way to a man's heart is through his stomach," she retorted with a wink before turning back to face the front, her grip on him becoming softer yet he didn't feel the need to pull away as much as before.
And thank God that she looked away so she wouldn't be able to see the brush of pink materialising on his cheeks.
